Harry Maguire has been one of Manchester United’s best players this season, which might not be saying much in the grand scheme of things but at a time when Erik ten Hag needed players he could trust, Maguire has stepped up.
We need to talk about Maguire. Do you think he has started to turn his United career around? Has it changed your view or opinion on him? Let me know in the comments.

Now it is time to back him who is fighting for his position.
He has shown professionalism and it’s good to see him silence some critics – me included. However even this is amplified by the lack of professionalism elsewhere, namely Sancho. I agree. He isn’t there for the long term but then again many other players are in that hole. For now it is just good he is playing well
Maguire = short term fix…
I don't think he can do anything to turn this around good beye
Despite maguire's rennaissance, we need to sell him. We need to have an upgrade on him
He will never be a top quality centre half especially against pressing teams … this season he’s been solid against average teams….then again we are average at the moment
No he is a good player in a team in mid table not top four
Anyone who feels Maguire should be staying off the back of a couple games is the reason why we will remain average if Ten Hag agrees with this average mentality players like Maguire will not win us championships…harsh truth proven over the years not over a couple of games
He's doing well, cut out the mistakes, finding himself in the correct defensive positions and he's carrying the ball well.
HOWEVER…
I will never overlook his comments over having nothing to prove. He must keep on proving, week in week out.
For me, with a fully fit squad, he's backup. But over recent months he's proving people like me that he may well have a future at the club.
Maquires playing well but in reality he's just not good enough when he is up against class teams.
Man how far we have fallen 🤦♂️
he is lucky we played against teams whose attacking tactics fitted his strengths, if that makes sense
Maguire cannot play a high line and for that reason he don't fit in the ten Hag philosophy.
EtH plays Maguire to silence the critics in the UK press. He is criticized for other reasons as well.
Who can blame anyone for not wanting to sign with someone else on less than half his current contract value, we need depth of squad, especially in defence, with all these injuries its been a blessing harry stayed
I admire Maguire's confidence, and self belief tremendously!!! He's been through the mangle, and still held his head up….He's a good defender against very basic old school attacking, long balls forward to head clear etc….High line defending, forget it, very limited and potentially a liability, that'll never change…..Just for the record, Lindelof is too passive, too weak, and too slow for the premier league, always has been, always will be…..
Get him out, he’s one of the toxic core. He’s had a couple of good games and the mistakes didn’t cost any points this week.
I think he generally is working hard to stay at least he’s doing it cant say the same for sancho can we so have to applaud Maguire for once he just has to keep going and improve some things but could stay and be a squad player
Maybe he did have the character to be captain as he’s showing character a lot recently I mean he was bood loads and hated on social media but he never came out and said anything really bad so let’s back him for once
My opinion on him as a Man Utd player hasn't changed, I still don't think he fits the profile Ten Hag is looking for. However, my opinion on him as a man has vastly changed. Massive respect to him for putting his nose to the grindstone and working hard for the team.
We’ve barely played any real competition since he started featuring regularly…
Maguire deserves full credit he's been a beast lately, but the bigger picture or questions has to be does he fit into the system ETH wants to implement in the future. Otherwise, it looks like the very cyclical problem of reissuing contracts to players that don't make a lot of sense.
Ship him out
“I’m willing to stay on a ridiculous contract and carry on picking up a huge pay packet that no other club in the world would be stupid enough to give me.”
Fixed for ya ‘arry!
I would still sell him however might get more for him now. Even at his best he doesn't have the skills to play like Ten Hag ultimately wants.
Credit to him when its due. He got criticized, he got defensive and stubborn, but lately he has backed his words through his performances.
Something that Sancho could have learnt from.
I think that against the right opposition he is a great defender, always thought that. an old school stopper and you will not get better than Harry. But the game is changing now and Lisandro is the proof of that, height was a prerequisite for a defender a few years back but technique has taken over. Harry is a great passer and the Luton game really showcased that but the modern game is about defenders being almost midfielders at times.
Yes, I moaned about him. Yes, I was wrong. He has a role at UTD not against city or arsenal but as a thug to stop crap teams blasting through us he is the man for the job.
Is Sam seriously calling people out for how they word/spell what they post? You need to check the work you're sending to One Football
Keep him until we rebuild our defence structure unless there is a tempting offer. Varane seems headed out. Lindelof is a backup option. Evans is a temporary option. Keeping Maguire isn't a bad decision, but we should not offer a contract extension either.
Lool, the fight ends when Licha.and Varane get back on the team, if we had to change our play to accomodate Maguire, I don't think its a good trade off. The question is how long can Maguire keep this form up, we'll all see, but I'm not one who changes opinion after every match, I really hope he's able to keep going, that's what united is about.
Sell, sell, sell!
No I think Maguire is a squad player. Like SAF had four good centre backs two starters and two squad players but these they could be dropped in at anytime and not be in huff been sat on the bench
Maguire is what we need now but I don't think he is what we need for the future if we want to achieve success, I only hope he establishes himself in a solid team because he is a good defender.
Mate, you don't get ETH policy. If you fight your way into the squad, or get your chance and grab it, you are on that spot, and who ever was there has to fight for it. He dropped star players at Ajax this way in favour of total nobodies. Example David Neres. If Harry is playing, he has worked for it and improved
We will never know what he truly thinks, obviously media interviews are not gonna be where you share your true feelings, but if you put yourself in his shoes, where he is now to where he was a year ago has to be a hell of a confidence boost.. we would win with him, lose without him, he knew his worth to the club and even when they sold him, he refused to go. To have your place back must be very validating. I hope he uses this to his benefit. I'll be honest, I wanted him to leave last year, but I can admit when I'm wrong and I think I was. Whether he stayed to get more money or not, the public humiliation and ridicule would have forced a lot of players elsewhere to escape it, but he used it to fuel his comeback and I don't think everyone could have done that.
Maguire is like the one eye man in a blind man's world.
No
Our matches after the international break will determine if this is an actual chamge in form for Maguire, or just a purple patch against teams that arent much of a threat om the attack, which has been what our last few matches in the premier league have been. He has been playing well, but the bar has been low with regards to what the measure has been this season.
No matter his form, we should still sell him.
Sorry, but… What you want at United is top world class player.
Is Maguire reliable? Can we start Maguire in a Champions League final and be 100% confident that United won't concede any goal?
Answer is NO.
So, no contract renewal, thank you very much.
However, what I appreciate with Erik Ten Hag is that he is absolutely not carried by his emotions. Players are there, under contract, he uses them. He judges by performance, not feelings. He probably spends hours analyzing statistics.
He found a way to get the best out of Maguire during his contractual time at United, well done. But he will sell him as soon as an appropriate offer comes. Just like he did with Fred.
I mean, what was wrong with Fred? Wasn't he looking brazilian again under Ten Hag? Why was Fred sold then?
