I personally think Licha is our best CB. Despite me liking Varane, I think Licha has a lot of traits that he offers us that are unique to him.

Have you noticed Maguire passing more into the central midfielders in our recent games. He is our only defender doing that right now (not to the level of Martinez tho) and i believe it's down to instructions and the coach trusting him with more responsibility. I think that's one of the reasons he starts ahead of Varane
Not only do we need a RCB who covers Martinez' deficiencies, we also need a LCB that can offer similar techincal qualities to licha but with more physical prowess in case of injury/suspension. Some names I have in mind were Jhon Lucumi, Hancko and Branthwaite.
If you identify a player or position as being so crucial, you need to have a plan B and C. Luke Shaw can play there as well but is also injured. That’s tough on United but whose to say these two Players don’t get injured again? Needs to be more methodical in the next 2 transfer windows
We should get Todibo in Jan to complement Licha
Can you analyse Caqueret from Lyon I believe he is the midfielder we are missing and Merino from real sociedad
As good as he is, I think he could be better as a left back or CB inverting into midfield where he can utilise his press resistance and ball progression which we lack in our current pivot. City often start stones in Cb but moves to midfield with walker tucking into make a back 3. Same can be done with Martinez into midfield and Shaw tucking into back 3. due to lack of defenders may not be best to do right now but it's definitely something to consider long term especially if we invest in better CBs.
Martinez could 100% play as a Libero, he's so good on the ball and I love him

I strongly disagree.l think what he offers isn't proportional to what we lose when he plays at this point.he gets turned,played through too often or simply gets overagressive or misses tackles.his long balls are surprisingly awful,when l noticed it late last season,l couldn't unsee it every game he played🤣his progression and ability on the ball when playing out is good but when competing with arsenal who have saliba,Gabriel and city,he,s not that good.and lastly,he greatly limits our future transfers.l saw yesterday you were talking about todibo like wtf,l,ve watched nice,s last 2games and a partnership btn those two would be destroyed🤣aerially we,d be bullied at the back and forwards will be running circles through our backline.haaland will be looking forward to the derby more than he already is.we need a cb who is fast to cover for lisandro,s liabilities while being physical and aerially dominant while being a good box defender🙆in addition to being a good long passer and still not be a technical liability.when you take all that into account and add the injuries he,s already have🥺
After the international break it’s possible we see Luke Shaw coming in at LCB and Maguire being dropped at RCB in order to play a high line, while also bringing in Mount and/or Amrabat to bring in players who are comfortable receiving the ball in tight spaces.
Not sure if it’s too similar but would like to see a video on Luke Shaw coming into LCB and the effect that would have on the rest of the personnel in the team that have not been favoured recently.
Alot of these pundits n loud fans dont realize how martinez n shaw's absence have really affected the team's performance.
ETH has to fill a team of players that dont have the ability to play as he wants, since he is not dogmatic n flexible he has to adapt his style to suit them n also construct a capable team to win by all means. So many times martinez played we were able to go by the opposition's press with a single pass from him, very good at breaking the lines N its missing now now.
