Luis Suarez infamously handled the ball on the line to stop Ghana scoring a last minute goal against Uruguay when the two sides met in the 2010 World Cup. Asamoah Gyan missed the resulting penalty and then Ghana were knocked out in a shootout.

Speaking ahead of the rematch at the 2022 World Cup, Suarez has said he doesn’t need to apologise as it wasn’t his fault that Ghana went out.

  1. Why sorry and move on ? To be honest, he did the right thing. He did it for his country. He sacrificed for his country. Ghana got the opportunity to score the same but they missed. Exactly it’s not his fault, cos he did it intentionally to safe his country.

  2. I still dont understand the whole theatrics around this. Whats the difference between what he did and a technical foul? They are Both an intentional foul, sacrifising yourself for the team without harming the opponent physically. I would applaud him or anyone else for this anyday

  3. Why tf should suarez say sorry if they pissed a penalty the woman in the last pay saying just say sorry move on is a absolute clown

  4. How many times I said this: tactical fouls ain't cheating and morally wrong, biting players and being racist is. Did Suarez bite or being racist to any Ghanian player that day? No. Is he was being unsportsmanlike? Yes, arguably even. But for that, he became the hero for Uruguay. And no way a foul near goal post should be awarded a goal, the defense will be open wide, and attacking opposition will face no threat to score a goal. Stupidity. Just show that Ghana will be better today and beat Uruguay. If that's what should be required to shut Suarez mouth off

  5. Suarez helped his team advancing to semifinal, so why would he ask an apology? Stupid journalist asked stupid question but got an absolute answer. Basically no one is responsible for this situation, even the one who missed the penalty, because he didn’t do it purposely and Suarez used his maximum effort to help his team.

  6. “Just apologize and move on” oh shut up. No one owes anyone an apology for something that happened in sport 12 years ago. Why would he apologize for something he’s not sorry for. Says the woman who never competed on a stage close to this

  7. Sorry for what!?… this woke generation is such a great pain in the backside. Now we're about to have robots play football, where computer's eliminate every chance of fouls and errors. Sorry!! Is this a love relationship????
