Geo…..raum still at hoffenhiem……..another fan on stels show told me that, raum was not impressed by rb liepzigs offer. whatever he is still available and the best l/back in europe. Its our major weakness and exploited by opponents (now regularly….christ even eintracht frankfurt were targetting cresswell) and it needs sorted or we will underachieve and lose more points/ cup games. Why not offer Vlasic plus cash for Raum ?
We could get Marcelo (34) on a free….offer him 12 months. his experience could be useful. raum & marcelo or cresswell and masuaku !!!! Is that not a improvement ?

I'd like Kostic too, been fan for a while, also Gunter more defensively sound at Freiburg but both 29 now. If can get Kostic great but I understand if he wants to stay play UCL & then move on 'free'. Don't think should push big wages if doesn't want move, been there. One left sided player I'd love us to be secretly working under the radar for is Sergio Gomez. The former Barca academy player would be great understudy/replacement for Cresswell. He isn't tall like Cress but has pace technique & like Cress great cross, passing & could keep that play down the left as well as set pieces & goals from dead ball. Cullen could put in a word he finished last season at Anderlecht with 15 assists & 6 goals at 21yo he wouldnt break bank in transfer fee or wages & could be huge for us for years with resale. I do like Onana a lot watched him at Hamburg & I wish we went for players like him then & loaned to Ligue 1 etc. Only worry is if get him what does mean for Souček bc he is not Souček & we won't be able to pay a 10 goal CM like Souček, he might can add goals. But honestly giving Souček a new deal would make me as happy as any new signing. He is never injured, well he is but he still plays & had a short break & is chomping at the bit to play again. Top bloke deserves Zouma money no question.

Aouar in attacking midfield. Kostic at LWB/LW. Cornet would also be acceptable in the same role. I want to stay with Coventry in DM, so no more for me. Maehle at LB, although I think I would prefer to play with 3 at the back. If only we had Alese to cover for Aguerd….

I actually thought Luke Shaw was closer to 30 and for that reason alone I would say no. But he’s actually still only 27. So yes. I’d guess too expensive though.
So my pick for left back is Rico Henry at Brentford. Quick and good tackler, would be more affordable and only 25 so would fit our age profile. Could he be available now they have signed Hickey?
Attacking mid I’d love Tielemans from Leicester. Again I can’t see it, as he would probably see us as a sideways move and want a minimum of Europa League. Also Arsenal are in for him apparently so he won’t be coming to us unfortunately.
Centre mid, I am the same as you re Onana, know very little about him. But, he sounds a bit of a beast! So yes I’ll choose him.
Centre back, IF Diop does leave that possibly gives us another £17m to spend? And we were linked with Diallo at PSG yesterday who looks very decent and can play left back too!

The problem with Shaw is his injury record, he's very good, but a huge Wilshere type risk. We have been linked with Luke Thomas from Leicester, my friend is a Foxes fan and really rates him. Might not be quite short term enough for the present need as he might not be ready to be a starter. Someone one Jose Gaya at Valencia would be a tailor made Cress replacement, get it done agent El Fornicador

Wan-Bissaka would be a good signing too. Definitely agree with you that West Ham desperately need a creative playmaker in the midfield. With all these players coming in it´s maybe about time some more deadwood was moved on. Perhaps it´s a reflection of how much the Hammers have overacheived these past two years that there is so little interest in any of their squad players.

Is it me Geo, or is there some strategic pairing going on for every position we go after? After Broja/Scamacca, I was just reading about the Maxwel Cornet link (left sided attacker) …while we flirt on with Kostic, & the links to Zielinski are increasing while we await the Onana outcome … not all exactly like for like of course, but it feels to me Newman is tactically bringing two names to a head at a time – and taking both to the wire – before landing one …
If I was Areola and I don't start the season in goal, I'd demand a transfer in January. He would have been promised 1st team football as he wouldn't have come if he was told he'd be No 2. He could have gone to Fulham and become their 1st team keeper. Fabianski CANNOT start the season and it's now time he's our back-up. I will be majorly fu*ked off if Areola isn't in goal vs City! 😡
Shaw (LB), Sarr (LW), Onana (CM) & Tielemens (10) or Maddison, he’s similar to JWP who we know Moyes loves, but Leicester are quoting £50m as a starting point, instead of £70m by Saints, £45 may get him and he’s younger.
