Liam Henderson came through the ranks at Celtic and is now an established Serie A talent.

He has spent four years in Italy, initially playing under Fabio Grosso at Bari and Verona, who Liam had watched winning the 2006 World Cup on television and felt he was fated to work under. Liam loves Italy – especially the cuisine, and feels his talents are more appreciated there than in his native Scotland.

As we cover his career, he reveals fascinating stuff about how you can’t sell a dummy to an Italian, his dream of playing for Steve Clarke’s Scotland and how his relentless practicing of corner-kicks set up Hibs’ historic Scottish Cup triumph of 2016.

  1. “The Messages”

Magic. Big big fan of Liam. I know a super fan of Verona and have a signed Verona shirt from Liam for my 3 boys. Pride of place on the staircase wall. Criminal he’s not made a Scotland squad, yet.

  2. Been a huge fan of Italian football most of my life and was really happy when Liam joined Bari and I’ve followed his career since although I’m a Bologna fan but they’ve had Hickey and now Ferguson plus Doig at Verona and Hendry at Cremonese. All the best with Empoli Liam.
*messages, only a Scots laddie would say that. 😄

  3. Great interview. One of the best and my favourite players we’ve ever had at hibs.
Personally would have had him in the Scotland squad ages ago. I think unless u regularly watched him at hibs u don’t reaise how gifted a player he actually is.
Had European football written all over him, we have nothing like him in Scotland. And a great lad too, had the pleasure of meeting him after the Scottish cup final.
Can’t actually believe he’s not at a bigger club

  4. I’ve watched every open goal every undr the cosh every football podcast you can name. This is the best 1-1 interview I have listened to how this only have 2k views blows my mind! what a insight to life in Italy! This just shows you any young boy with a bit of self confidence should choose life abroad over the uk everyday of the week! If your good enough you can ALWAYS come back! Giving lallanas one a watch next hope it’s half as good or even he’s half as good as a person cause ability wise he should have been in Italy or Spain years ago also 👍
