I think they just added another problem. Berhalter does not want any issues with Gio again so he will play him no matter if he has played for his club or is match fit đ¤Śââ
It's nice to have the players we have playing in the Champions league. But Defense is what wins championships… and sadly only CCV is in the CL. No goalie and no other defense player in the CL will down us like a sinking ship.
There isn't a player for the US that would start for Germany, how bout talk about the actual problem though, Berhalter is a joke and wouldn't be coaching anywhere in the German system.
The game against Germany was screaming for a Tyler Adams type player, especially in the 2nd half. Someone who could help organize the defense, provide cover for the attackers, and clogg passing/running lanes. The closest we had in camp was Maloney, who was stuck on the bench. We need to see him against Ghana to determine if he can truly be Adams back-up.
With a Healthy and fit Adams & Reyna GGG will have to sit either Musa or McKennie. There just isn't room to field all 5 of them. And while we have to get away from Gregg's robotic 4-3-3 , I don't think we're ready to go to a 3-5-2 (yet).
The biggest problem is GGG. In the second 1/2 he went back to his âsystemâ and it sucked
the us really really desperate they think reyna a niko krancjar level player, nothing to scoff at btw, and treat him as michael laudrup/zidane. respectfully he is nothing special at the top level. just like pulisic isnt.
When he came off the team wasnât good. Reyna is a must. đ
Gio didn't do anything. I love that guy and we won't beat the best without him, but did you watch the game? I'm confused. I get he hasn't played and will get way better but this is weird. No Gio, no great wins.
Against top level teams, we should start Reyna, McKennie, and preferably Adams. With Adams injured we should go with another dedicated 6. It could be Johnny, Lenard Maloney, or maybe someone else but we shouldnât use the double pivot against top level teams.
I know this means Musah goes to the bench but that could be a positive. A player of his quality coming in to finish a match is a game changer.
Yes đ
Gio is a defensive liability.
Herc straight up called out Tac by making the reference to some people mentioning the Netherlands match lol
"Swallowing your pride"? For B, that's not possible.
When hes playing well hes good. But he has the tendency to be lazy and gets frustrated to easily. Has a long way to go but has potential to be there in 2026
Greggy Beerholder OUT!!!
The USMNT should have a long line of Gio Reyna type quality players right behind him year in and year out pushing him to get better and trying to push him out of the lineup. The problem is we donât. And thatâs very damning in 2023.
What exactly does Weston McKennie do? Does anyone else think heâs highly overrated and the USMNT need to replace him? I just have never seen what he offers outside of long throws and be a nuisance in the box. Otherwise, I just donât think heâs anywhere good enough box to box as a midfielder.
I dont mind losing a game with gio playing central with flo on top
Gio is our most talented prospect ever
Herc what are you talking about 30%?? They had 4 days break between matches before facing Holland.
Let's be real, if the US somehow wins against Ghana, even if they pathetically drag themselves through the game, the USSF will make sure to spread the "in Gregg we trust" and "we were dominant" narratives and forget all about this game and just focus on the scoreboard
We could play a 442 diamond and keep MMA in tact with virtually the same roles they have in the 433, while adding Reyna as a CAM with Pulisic and Balogan up top as the 2 forwards. But Weah would be the odd man out unless you play him as a right back, his speed would be deadly as a second half sub for one of the forwards though.
Hilarious that GGGâs answer to success is the dude he tried to alienate đ
Leonard Maloney should have started this game against Germany. We desperately missed a strong DM and Maloney is a capable player in the Bundesliga. Maloney is a solid backup for TA and Gregg needs to use him
Great takes. Except the Adams vs Netherlnads in the WC apology, attributing his failures to fatigue. No. Adams is prone to lapses, although otherwise world class and a US standout.
Gio Reyna another overrated player. More excuses to come.
He has scored 2 goals
I love Hercâs shirt!!!
Neither McKennie nor Musah are specialist d-mids. Maloney starts as a specialist d-mids= in the Bundesliga where his team currently sit 10th. When Adams is out, at least one specialist d-mid should be used.
Also, Mexico showed how to play a top team, like Germany. El Tri didn't try to go toe-to-toe with the Germans.
Seriously, seriously, seriously, gio rena is the best thing that has happened in the whole world today. He's the incarnation of lionel messi and dribble and move like lionel messi. Gio rena might win the golden boot in 2026 World Cup, and I had people that are not from the United States saying it
Germany could not have had a chance if gio rena had played the game against Germany. Everything gio hold the ball, defenders got scared cause he's coming with the confidents by dribble three players at same time. Gio is a superstar
I said it that gio and balogun in the field gonna be scary to any opponent.
I really don't see what Hurc is seeing here. Reyna is so mediocre, especially for all the hype he gets in the media. In the Ghana game his passing was just okay, he doesn't defend, and he's just trotting around like he's having a stroll through the park the rest of the time. Even his goals were unimpressive. The first a massive sitter that he still managed to hit right at the keeper and got lucky that it deflected in, and then a really weird free kick from the penalty spot that was honestly just horribly defended by Ghana, and again, deflected in.
