Sue Smith and Stephen Warnock discussed Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Manchester City on today’s edition of ‘The Football Show’.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta described yesterday’s win over Manchester City as a ‘watershed’ moment.

Gabriel Martinelli stepped off the bench and slammed in a late winner for the hosts as they beat their Premier League title rivals 1-0 at a jubilant Emirates Stadium.

The victory was Arsenal’s first over City in the Premier League since December 2015 after losing the previous 12 and gave Arteta a maiden win over his former mentor Pep Guardiola.

  1. I disagree with Warnock’s assessment on Arsenal wings… Gabriel Jesus is very much a direct player. I didn’t think we lost that much having him play on the right wing; however, Trossard did not perform as well… it wasn’t his best game.

  2. The GK situation is not a headache. Raya is on trial, the club is currently accessing Raya.
Comes the end of the season the better keeper will stay while the other one can find a new club if he does not want to be on the bench.

  3. michael oliver is owned by manchester city and dubai. its disgusting. and nothing will be done about it.

pgmol are literally a shambles and have lost any and all credibility they ever had.

  4. stupid comment about Subing Raya , a 10yr old knows you don’t waste a sub on a goal keeper unless injury and it would destroy raya confidence if he took him out at half time. Strength in depth is the key to success it keeps standards high and you face less impact when facing injuries

  5. Can we please stop this nonsense of touting up Declan Rice. He was poor in this game. Offered nothing going forward. He was playing as our attacking left 8 and played almost everything backwards and sideways. Jorginho did all the progression of the ball and later partey won us the game with a cutting pass. What I give Declan credit for is breaking up play in the middle at times, but he also dives in and gets beat sometimes and exposes the backline (see Rico Lewis chance). Defensively he gives his best and that is good, but on the ball he is another elneny. Definitely not 105 mil midfield general.

  6. Well said!!! Stephen Warnock knows his stuff. Great points on the keeper situation. Pep did the same when Joe Hart hadn't necessarily did much wrong, but he knew how he wanted to play and Joe Hart didn't fit that profile of keeper.

  7. Football fans are a funny bunch. Arsenal win via a lucky deflected goal and are suddenly favourites to win the league. As I say that I remember that my team Spurs beat Liverpool are robbing them blind and via an own goal and I couldn't care less. The main takeaway is that it's still too early in the season.

  8. I am annoyed by these statements trying to belittle our win over Man City on the grounds it was a deflection. How many times have we or any other team lost after our/their player deflected a ball past goalkeeper?
