For me. If Maguire isnt playing for UTD I can only see that as a positive. I dont think any of the Man UTD first 11 should be anywhere near the England squad. Maguire plays his heart out every game which is more than what can be said about Fernandes and the rest of this shite mates.
southgate isnt a risk taker. he will stick to the tried and tested formulas of phillips and maguire even though he knows deep down they dont deserve to play on merit. i dont expect rico to play while southgate is in charge unless phillps gets injured.

I don’t mind Southgate having his system and picking players for it. I don’t even mind Maguire or Phillips being picked. I’m sure Phillips is a good player but he’ll always be rusty if he’s not playing. That doesn’t mean he’s bad at all, it just means Man City’s game doesn’t suit him.
What really is odd is regardless of who he’s going to pick for or against, why isn’t Southgate at least trying other midfielders. Rico could easily be called up for the previous friendly. If Phillips still doesn’t play till the euros or gets injured, then what? He’s not even tired to integrate someone else.

Rico Lewis is a ridiculous suggestion. If there is one player who is coming through in England that deserves a shout, it’s Jacob Ramsey. Englands midfield should consist of Bellingham, Rice, Maddison, Phillips, JWP and Ramsey. Connor Gallagher and Mason Mount on the fringes of the squad.
