Totally agree Geo, nothing wrong with Moyesball if its excitingly with the right players. Id rather have a quick counter attacking team thats clinical with the right players than trying to pass a team to death without the ability to do so. Last year was a hard watch trying both,, so far so good this season. And as a confession i was one of the most Moyes Out…but credit when credits due.could all still go tits up though as is the West Ham Way😂
If we finish in the top 10 he'll get another contract wether we're in Europe next season or not .I don't want him to stay it's just what I think. Great video again geo keep them coming..
Window went well, but I can’t shake the fact that we were in for maguire and mctominay .. could of been awful for us 😅
Great video Geo very thought provoking and like your distinction between your prediction not necessarily being a statement of what you want as well that its too early to decide that. Yes its not perfect but it is very promising in a way that wasn’t there last season and again nail on head that last season it could not be that. Its funny that I am now finding our counter attacking style far more entertaining than other teams pushing the ball around endlessly with little to show for it and even less excitement coming from that. I was Moyes out but have a very different though not yet conclusive view of it this season.
When i listened to that interview by moynes I knew he wanted to build a strong team others will be afraid to face and also compete in europe every year with winning trophies
hi geo moyes said a year ago he wanted to turn west ham into an elite team.ive always known from his everton days he was a great coach.this was confirmed when van persie said he was a great man and coach something he didnt have to say.
So what was the prediction?
Love where we are right now in the league and with most of the players we have, but I've yet to see a game this season where we have stitched two halves together – except for Brighton – and looked entirely convincing for more than 45mins. We're a work in progress, but I'm waiting for the next rung. We've had a tough start, not beaten the big boys, allowed many teams to grow in the second half too often, looked rocky against Luton and, at times Sheffield, and arguably got a little lucky against Newcastle. An injury to Coufal, and I'm not sure who we have that can replace him. Mubama still sits, and Ings and Antonio are still here. Our signings didn't arrive until TS got established. Credit to DM for his part, but we're only 8 games in…Steady on.
All very well having a team of made up of Bowen's, Kudus's & Paqueta's, until it's time to defend. Yet it seems there are some people who genuinely believe, you just need a team full of
geniuses, led by a progressive manager (whatever that means?) and you can play without a defence. In truth it's really all about getting the balance right and that's what Moyes is doing.
We know he lean's towards a defensive strategy & favours protecting a lead but his teams have always contained attack-minded players too. The more we win the more of it we will see!
One year maximum extension for a manger over 60 years old! And one year maximum extension for a player over 30 years old. What is there not to like Geo?
Archetypical Moyes team always always had a to 5 atb with overlapping fullbacks and inverted wingers. We see that happening this season with Alvarez dropping in between Zouma and Aguerd and Emerson and Coufal darting forward. Bowen often moves closer to Antonio and Paqueta moves central. This is very similar to his high achieving Everton squad. Every player's profile are identical to that Everton side. Box crashing, lanky tall number 10 – check. Dead ball specialist – check. Holding/sitting midfielder -check. Overlapping fullback check. Back to the goal forward check. Inverted winger/false nine – check.
For all the ups and the downs, and the huge amount of frustration towards the end of the season, the reality is that we are currently in the midst of the most successful period at the club at least since I've been alive and interested (since 2004). I ask myself what other managers could we get that would have a greater than 50% chance of giving us a better outcome than Moyes. I can't think of many, and even less that are coming to manage West Ham. Moyes is an olschool style manager, with what can sometimes be described as a negative gameplan. I don't think the plan is intended to be negative if our counter attacking football this season is anything to go by, but that is how it looks if we're playing poorly.
Moyes has also shown at Everton that when given time in a role that he can build the culture of a club and bring sustained success. Do you think Everton would be in a better or worse position if Moyes hadn't taken the Man Utd job? Moyes isn't perfect, but then again nobody is, but what he has bought to the club is progress, it's not always easy but it's hard to argue, based on our results, that we aren't headed in the right direction. I for one hope we give him a nice lengthy contract, 5 years would be in order, and let him continue to build upon what he has started. Now he's had time to implement some changes at the club I predict that these changes will cause even greater progress to be achieved. What does greater progress look like? Breaking in to that top 6, and staying there. That's the only real way up at this point. A lofty goal to be sure. But I think if we change manager we have 0 chance of achieving it, it'll be new systems and new staff and a whole new mentality. I'd like to see us finish what we started and see if Moyes can finally take what was a bang average club into the champions league again.
Imagine we had a really good centre foward think we could challenge for top 4
So why Choose Creswell over Emerson for the whole season
Too early in the season to judge. Id like to see how we do against more mid-table and upper-mid table teams. I think based on stadium and transfer budget we need to aspire to being a top 8 team, anything less is under- achievement.
Last season I was constantly watching games with the mind set of “let’s just get through this” like we played the game as a back seat passenger letting the other team drive the game and was constantly nervous every game but this season does feel we control games a little more, maybe not the ball still but the game in general. We are at least now a front seat passenger, holding the map and pointing where to go. 😂 It’s an improvement but time will tell.
i think he end up with another contact
Look at what's happened to Bournemouth when they went for a more 'progressive' manager. They're looking like relegation fodder. Meanwhile O'Neil has Wolves playing well. Think we need to be very careful what we wish for.
The thing about us we are no longer a small club. With our Fan base with our stadium 60,000 fans we are now a big club, we have spent big money matching other top clubs. So this mentality when we play other big clubs and lose all the time, it's acceptable to go into the game and lose. Oh well it's Man City, oh well it's Liverpool. This us not acceptable anymore. If moyes doesn't start moving over to possession based football he has to move aside. We are a big club, you cannot use the excuses anymore. We play at home in front of 60,000 fans and we get 25% of the ball. It's not on anymore.
It’s so interesting to see all these positive comments about Moyes.
Just shows showing faith and sticking with a manager can pay off.
I like that we have a different way of playing, shows the versatility of the premiership, bring everyone on
I find it funny that this is the best squad we've had in my lifetime but we also play the most basic cautious football I have seen in my lifetime. Irons.
Thanks
