Former Liverpool forward Luis Suarez rolled back the years with a theatrical dive during Gremio’s recent 3-2 defeat to Internecinal.

During his stints in England and Spain earlier in his career, Suarez garnered a reputation for flashy skills, slick finishes, and a consistent desire to bend the rules.

While at Liverpool and Barcelona, Suarez was regularly accused of diving and it once led to the Uruguayan performing a ‘diving’ celebration during the Merseyside derby.

And recently the 36-year-old proved that, despite the fact he’s entered the twilight of his career, his tricks on the pitch have barely changed.

In a clip that went viral on Sunday night, Suarez can be seen challenging for the ball with one of the Internacional defenders, who eventually swipes at the player.

While there was contact made, the ex-Liverpool star offered a theatrical reaction to the incident as he launched himself in the air before spinning around.

After a few rolls, Suarez clutched onto his leg before looking up at the referee and demanding that his counterpart be shown a card.

The official obliges and shows Internacional’s Rene a yellow card before cameras cut to show Suarez laughing from the floor.

The contact made with the former Barca star was not enough to send him tumbling to the ground in the manner that he did.

Just last month, Suarez proved he’s still as sharp as ever, by scoring a stunning overhead kick at his son’s 10th birthday party.

Suarez hired a football pitch for his son Benji’s birthday and couldn’t resist getting in on the action himself.

A video posted online shows the striker in the center of the penalty area as a cross comes into the box.

Despite being marked by a plethora of young budding footballers, Suarez rolls back the years to meet the cross with an impressive overhead kick that bounces into the back of the net.

Suarez looks pretty pleased with the finish, throwing his arms up in celebration, while the goal is met with wild celebrations from the partygoers.

The forward called time on his career in Europe after leaving Atletico Madrid in 2022, where he helped the club win La Liga in 2020-21.

He returned to boyhood club Nacional and helped them win the Uruguayan title during a sixth-month spell, and is currently playing for Brazilian club Gremio, where he has scored 19 goals in 41 appearances.

However, it Suarez will call time on his career at the end of 2023 after agreeing to end his contract early with the club.

Earlier this year the forward revealed he is in ‘constant pain’ amid his battle with injuries which had led to his decision to bring his time at the club to an earlier end than originally planned.
