  1. They didn’t just ‘release the footage’, they were pressured to the point of having no choice.

Webb has waited for the hype to die down before going on Sky and being interviewed by Michael Owen, who was hardly going to interrogate him.

Offered up no solution or justice, missed out a lot of the talking points around incompetence, UAE, etc. He’s popped on, said ‘oh well, live with it’ and scuttled away.

This is going to get worse before it gets better.

  2. Why did Sky Sports choose Michael Owen of all people to do this interview? The fella owns more horses than braincells… This is the first opportunity we've to to publicly interview and press Howard Webb and the PGMOL, and Owen pitches him a bunch of softball questions, propbably written for him by someone else. We desperately needed a competent interviewer here.

  3. I do feel the answers mr Webb has providing are a weak and poorly rehearsed, accountability is what we are wanting as football fans, I do feel going forward the premiership will need to adapt to the champions league VAR technology instead of the current system that has more than once this season fallen under the # “human error “

  4. I can’t they can’t stop the game and automatically give the goal . But the law does not stop the game being stopped and having it explained to the managers to see if spurs manager would allow diaz to work the ball into the net .
As that would be in the spirit of fare play .
Spurs manager might of said no .(unlucky )

  5. 2:42 without VAR Curtis Jones wouldn’t have had a red card. That offside situation wouldn’t have happened. But there is VAR, Curtis Jones did get a red card and referees proofed once again that they are incompetent.

  6. Howard Webb as the head of the PGMOL is part of the problem.
Throughout this conversation you can hear that he is always making excuses both for the VAR operators and the referee. At no point does he take responsibility that it was a huge error due to incompetence and stopped Liverpool being awarded a perfectly good goal.
He talks about a real focus on communication protocols. What was blatantly obvious is that there aren't any comms protocols in place.
I wish there had been an individual there with a modicum of intelligence other than Michael Owen to ask him directly why the VAR operator wasn't concentrating on the match and why there isn't any communication protocols in place. Surely a simple comms of "Onside, award goal." communicated from VAR to the ref and then the ref confirms back "Onside, award goal confirmed." Is all that is needed. Why is this so hard. It really is that simple.🙄

  7. Lets hope if another team suffers a wrong decision we will apply the same overkill analysis like LFC have had in this case.
Boo hoo 😭dry your tears LFC have been given the lions share of decisions over the decades so give it a rest.

  8. Honestly i think var is affecting refs in general, i get the impression if they get it wrong on the pitch var is their safety net, but if you cant get it right on the pitch then look at a monitor and come to the conclusion that thats not onside then it goes to show where the refs heads at. Human error nah its more than that.

  9. Webb was brought in for things to get better, and things have got worse. It isn’t just VAR getting things wrong against Liverpool and Wolves – it’s the actual refereeing on the pitch that has been woeful. This mistake actually allowed Simon Hooper to get away with criticism of his performance, he handed out 11 yellow cards and two red cards when there was only one bad tackle the entire game. He totally lost control of himself, never mind the game.

And allowing refs to go and get paid for doing exhibition matches in oil states days before games is an absolute joke. The whole thing is a shambles.
