      Maguire is difinitely a Southgate favourite…!!!! As for Phillips, how on earth can he be selected when he's hardly playing? Are England that hard up for defenders and midfielders that these 2 keep getting picked for England??!!

      Gareth Southgate said at the beginning of getting the job "he has no favourites and will pick players who are in form and playing week in week out for their club", yet Maguire and Philips alone get picked every time. Saka is a great player but he is meant to be injured and still he picks him, Rashford way out of sorts but picks him.These are just examples

      I don’t mind Maguire being in the ‘squad’. Senior and consistent squad members help teams on and off the pitch. He shouldn’t be starting though due to him not being game sharp. No one really knows if he’s good enough of not. He doesn’t play to show us.

      Philips. I’m not having it. That’s no games ever. Not a senior player and overall not needed. If we’re so obsessed with having like for like players to protect that back 4 then stick another CB on the bench to tackle and pass.

      This England squad is turning into a joke now . There’s no country in the world that picks players on favouritism . A manager with as much backbone as a snake . The amount of talented England players right now are scary but yet we’ll never ever succeed with that clown Southgate as manager

      I'd be "furious" if he did get in the squad.

      He is nowhere near as good enough as the rich quality of midfielders that are in there.

      The argument that some make against Phillips is laughable. He's never had a bad England game and ran the show against Italy, until he tired and it was only when he went off that we looked vulnerable.

      England should be European and world cup holders now , if it wasnt for southgates negative attitude and picking his favourites in last 2 tournaments,our players are the best in the world, as is our league, this is our golden era ,,yet hes somehow managed not to win anything with the best players, , freindlys are meant to give people a chance , but he dosnt even do that,, because he knows if they peform well he'll face a backlash and have to drop his mates sharper hes gone the better

      i agree with the west ham fan, that southgate is a disgrace, phillips cant get in to the first team , maguire the same, and now the arsenal keeper cant and the likes of pope ward prowse, longstaff, the list goes on cant get into the england team i cant wait till this southgate banish . its a disgrace
