he was doing his stuff with the national team against a very poor country that's why. I'm brazilian and he's just average to be honest on a elite level.
I have followed his career in football, and I would say that the fact that he managed to play at a high level was because he has always been a player with a very high work ethic, something that allows him to perform well in multiple roles. Technically he was always at a great level and Guardiola from the beginning made the most of what he had to offer (not as many minutes as he wanted due to the high competition from City either).
