SJ. Still a good example both on and off field this year. Despite KP getting it am 100% Shaun kept his heart on high for NZ league in general. 👍👍👍

How did Kalyn get six points in the last game? Totally hilarious, this award is simply a joke. They did not want to give it to a player from another country that is why Kalyn got six points. Shaun Johnson got robbed of the Dally M Player of the year. How many points go to the best player on the field in one match? I know of ABC Player of the Year tallies given to 3 players every game, with 3 points going to the best player, 2 points to the second best player, and 1 point going to the 3rd best player. But 6 points? Unbelievable!!!!
It should be voted at the end of the season like the nba not based off each game you play .
Also the fact if you get suspended and can’t win anything is ridiculous

As if the discriminative decision with the forward pass was not enough, the stupidity continues at the Dally M Awards. According to genuine assesment and common sense, Johnson won the Dally M Player for 2023. Congratulations Johnson. Congratulations Warriors.

Okay. So that Wah bandwagoners stop whinging in the comments, I’ll break it down.
SJ had an outstanding season, but he only played 5 more games than Ponga.
Why does this matter? Because Ponga is far and away the best player on his team. He basically had 10 straight MOTM performances where he picked up all 6 available points pretty consistently. In case you guys can’t do math, he picked up the majority of 60 available points when he already had around 15 points going into that run. SJ only ended on 55 points, and that’s because other Warrior players, like CNK and Harris were outstanding, which split the votes.
Basically, Ponga won because he only played a few less games than SJ, and in his hot streak he rightfully won most of the points in the games as he almost singlehandedly dragged the Knights kicking and screaming from 14th to 5th.
Also, for everyone bitching about how SJ pumped the Knights in the semi, please remember that the finals are not included in the Dally M votes, so as to avoid giving players that make the finals and especially the GF an unfair advantage

The system is so wrong, how has Nathan Clearly not won a Dally M but been the best player for 3-4 years now.
Need to make it like the NFL, every team nominate their best player of the year and then players, coaches, media and referees vote for the best player that year.
