You cannot replace one with two. You can only field 11. I think we are in a better place without Rice. Alverez has turned up and willing to give his all. JWP has turned up and also willing to give all. Soucek looks better with out Rice. Kudus could be the icing on the cake, can't wait too see him link up with paqman. Moyes won't drop soucek
Moyes has a problem picking his best midfield. Unless you put paquela on the left wing. Antonio on it, then kudus needs to get on. Said from the bench. I can see Said getting less game time
Normally selling your best players makes you worse… but I do think a lot of it is because of how much we actually got for Declan… without the high price tag, we wouldn’t have been able to get the players we have.
It was 1 step back selling Rice, but the smart signings has made us 2 steps forward! So far it’s going in the right direction.
Your thumbnail nails it Alvarez ,Paqueta and JWP,no place in their for Soucek,but I guess you bring in Soucek,but is a pale shadow but will and could provide defensive wall/ block etc.Soucek is far too limited in his play,before January window,not sure if there is a player in our Academy that could fill in?

For me the question of “are we missing D.R?” is a season long thing. At the moment, it appears not and the point about the midfield having a better balance looks a sound one at the moment. But we’re just a handful of games in.
