He is a good player. Nothing more nothing less. Juan clearly shows that he is a converted full-back from a CB. Defending is his strong attribute compare to offensive play. I am not sure he has flair, offensive acumen, linking-up play which is required from a Barca full back.
But for sure he is an upgrade on Dest. Dest is just a so called 'potential'. 2yrs at Barca, Dest has not had 3 good games in a row. Dest losses the ball in attacking half too often. Defending is horrendous. Gets subbed in 45mins in most of big games.
I have slightly different take for next season, if we opt for 3-4-3, right back position can be made redundant. I am pretty confident we will get either Koulibaly or Kounde.
Which means it could be Kounde/Koulibaly (LCB) ——- Eric/Christensen (CB)——- Araujo (RCB). In Midfield, Alba —– Busi/Kessie—— Pedri/Gavi — B Silva (dream)/P. Torre. Eric/Christensen can play closer to midfield. As they are really good passer of the ball. Making more numbers in the midfield. Plus you already have Alba in the midfield to create more numerical advantage. And Pedri or B Silva can push higher up the field.
I think Juan Foyth could be a decent addition. There are rumours of Unai Emrey liking Abde, it could be a swap deal.
