Seems a bit harsh but fair enough, it was a red & you probably wouldn't challenge it. BUT you'll see a hundred of them this season & maybe half will be a straight red. It was dangerous so fair enough but it won't be consistent applied for sure. 3 match ban presumably.

There was literally three identical or worse tackles in the two later games, none of them reds. Wont listen to anyone who says that it's a red, now we lose the player and Bruno G who did worse to Foden gets to play against us.

Yes it was a red card. Was a dangerous tackle no doubt about it. Be impartial. If their player had done it we'd be calling for him to be sent off.

Absolute disgrace. Whether this was a red or not, there were 2 far worse challenges in the matches that followed. One was just a yellow and the other was no card at all. PGMOL has no consistency. Paul Tierney should also never officiate a Liverpool match again.

What do you expect when paul thierny was in the boot as a VAR refree for the game off course no one will call it a mistake after a review is completed. The first two guys talked about pace and speed in tackle and height, thats a fair arguement, but the opposing player was also at pace and speed too and his boots was also high. This was a clash of boots and a standard tackle that I have always seen for over 12 years I have watch the premier league. If you give this as a red card then the premier league is about to be a dilluted game of football. There was no intensity of intent when mac came in with his less stronger foot[left leg], and the contact was directly at the players boot with no malice. You could even see him try to negate the challenge from the guy but it was too late because the other player was already commited to the challege. Its just an embarrassing call from professionals and as i have said this season we are going to see all the blunders of most refrees and VAR refrees all through the season multiply. Its about to get even worst going forward. I just hope this can be overturned by the FA once the appeal is submitted. Mehn, newcastle, villa and wolves without macca would be 3 times a worry for Us to win!
