WATARU ENDO: LIVERPOOL PANIC BUY OR SMART BUSINESS? Liverpool have made their move in the transfer market, and seemingly from out of nowhere comes Wataru Endo, captain of Stuttgart and Japan for around £15m. Let’s take a closer look at the player’s profile, stats and history, have the reds just panic bought someone in to play DM, or is this a shrewd transfer move. What happens next?

  1. As of now yes it is most likely a panic buy. It stinks of Arthur and Ben Davies. However it could become a smart piece of business by the end of the season. Gotta wait to see if the manager plays him.

  2. Horrible signing. Liverpool from Ferrari and Lambourghini to an old beat up Skoda. Nothing in between. Panic purchase for a bang average player (I don't care what people say about the guy, his stats are average. He was ranked 16th in Germany for his CDM ability and 32rd ranked for passing. This is in Germany … he's a relegation material player.

  3. He's dreamed of playing in the Premier League, he's a captain of his current club and National team. He will be getting a big pay upgrade (he's currently only on about £10k a week), his injury record is exemplary and he's an absolute warrior. He will put himself on the line. A good quality signing.

  4. Liverpool needs to change their stance and take risks to sign young and upcoming players that are scooped up by clubs such as Brighton and Southampton if they don't want a repeat of this transfer window in the future. They clearly lack an excellent sporting director and a more progressive manager in terms of transfers.
Klopp is at the end of his era and needs to be replaced by a younger, more progressive manager. The club also needs owners who are passionate about football and the club. FSG are also at the end of their tenure. They should stick to American sports. They have no clue or passion for football. They are just in it for the business.

  5. Maybe it’s a player that Liverpool have needed for a couple of seasons. One who will get stuck in but also scores goals and can actually defend. Think he will be a revelation if his stuttgart history is anything to go by.

  6. He’s a smart buy!
Don’t watch his age because his stats shows he’s a very good player & he looks & plays like a 24yr old.
    So stop doubting chief!
    Give Endo his chance!
    He will do the job.

  7. It really is embarrassing how far we’ve fallen. Going from a title winning squad in 2020 to being neglected back into fighting for top 6. You need to stop this happy clapping/red tinted glasses drivel and call a spade a spade.

  8. Panic buy? no, he would have been scouted many times in the past, he also looks a really good player. Im really happy we got this guy. Didnt know much about him but thats irrelevant. Just need a few more players and were good to go.

  9. If Endo was younger, he would be hailed as a 'classic Liverpool signing', in the best traditions of signing people like Mo, Fab, even as far back as Gini.

Wataru feels alot more like a Liverpool signing, even despite the clown-show, than Lavia or Caicedo ever did. Not sour grapes, but did either of the lads that went to Chelsea REALLY feel like 'classic Liverpool signings' even when we thought we had secured them?

  10. I'm ok with this. Very ok actually. He's not a game changer but he's he's got real Miller & Henderson vibes which is no bad thing so no panic buy imo. Random for sure but not daft. We ultimately needed a solid no frills banker DM & he seems decent enough. It also puts us in a better position to get a younger first choice DM so could be great bit of business….IF we get another DM in this window.

  11. I’m absolutely fuming about this mess of a transfer window , kinda goes without saying. I’m all in for this lad though. Japanese players always give 100% , his stats are decent and he’s a defensive mid with adaptability and good leadership quality. What’s not to like at the fee paid ? He’s no marquee signing but he’s a necessary signing and I for one will give him nothing but support. He wants to play for us , he’s a grafter and if you’ve seen him on camera he looks cool as a cucumber. Not some overwhelmed rookie but a seasoned professional who knows where he is and can’t wait to get started , I’m actually buzzed by this one !. Go on lad , Liverpools number 3 !!! YNWA!.

  12. Did he play goalie? He might be handy when Allison goes. Maybe he played right forward, when Salah goes. How do we go from Bellingham, casido cun* to 30 year old and we are all happy. Am I in different universe. FSG out

  13. Yet another NEGATIVE message from you about LFC- You said our Club is a MESS, now is this a PANIC BUY? So what if it is- IF YOU DON'T HAVE A POSITIVE MESSAGE ABOUT LFC- JUST SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!!

  14. Hi I think this is great business because now we can at least not get shafted by any club on price saying we don't have a DM we have one so I'm at least positive we can get another 2 players in a defender and another DM maybe even another winger to cover Salah

  15. It baffles me that some fans seem to have no confidence in Bajcetic, why pay £50-60 for the next no 6 when we already have him? We far more need an LCB because no backup for Virg or left option of a possible back 3.

  16. Endo is the type of player that we need, but not at 30 years old & £16 M. Klopp said he was watching him for a while but how long ago was that. If he was 25 then I would 100% back this signing, but not at 30 years old, it just stinks of sticky plaster by FSG yet again being cheap.

  17. A little of column A, a little of column B. There's no way it's not somewhat of a panic buy, Klopp himself has admitted he had to convince the club to sign him. But that doesn't mean he can't also end up being a smart bit of business.

  18. On the note of going for versatile players in the transfer market with experience. Why can't Jürgen Klopp and the coaching staff look at the fringes of the team that are perhaps not being used as much and suggest to them to start adjusting and expanding their positions on the pitch. The players that spring to mind are the young players coming through but also players like Joe Gomez and Nat Phillips. Because I would not like to see them drop out of the club but would like to see them develop. Let me know your thoughts on this.

  19. The cope in this comment section is hilarious. We landed our 3rd choice player. Good luck to the man of course. But I’m not one bit excited to see him play. He’s a half- season fix at best. Yet again we’re going to be scrambling in January.
First Touchemeni, then Jude and now 2 more lost midfield targets this summer.
Very happy with the McAlister signing I must say.
But we just lost 5 midfielders- 2 of whom were very key. We needed more players going in this season.
Oh well. I just hope we sort out some system that will carry us.
I think we also need another CB

  20. Smart business imo. Lad has no airs n graces and will do the dirty work and no frills defending, good role model for Bajcetic, lavia I'm fine with missing out on him , I think Bajcetic has everything he has and more, endo will prove a very astute purchase imo. Remember Jota wasn't a first choice target nor was Salah or Robertson they've all done ok. He is also a leader and can play CB and RB if needed, If it's ok for city to buy cheap and older kovacic for instance, then endo is more than good enough to become a solid starter and squad player for us. Not all signings have to be superstars and 100m. 16m for an experienced DM and international captain is great business and with our squad now quite young and inexperienced, he is perfect role model for likes of Bajcetic, Elliot, Jones etc.

  21. Sing

    From Hendo to Endo,

    Watch him go…

With skill and determination, he'll help us flow…

To shine bright… to reach new heights…

You know, everything's gonna be alright.
