  1. As much as i love tim and respect him and thank him for his excellent performances over the past year or so at the world cup, i agree with Herc and for the exact same reasons.

  2. Not huge Pepi fan… but why don’t you just play Em both? 4-2-3-1 Pepi CF/CAM feeding Flo and Reyna his sub and it’s like a Nkunku & Jackson and play through the center and stop crossing 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ and you still have Sargent plus others as subs

  3. Dumb title for a segment and Sebi's whines about Ream were truly annoying. Yes, Tim has been good, but I don't want a 39 year old going to a WC and now is the time to start playing other folks.

  4. if he’s fit and in form by the time WC comes around I’d start Tim maybe sub after 65-70 mins, he brings a lot of hierarchy, top player and always reliable.

  5. Formation with Gio, McKennie, Adams, and Musah would be 442. Gio would play left attacking midfield. McKennie would play a two-way role on the right. Musah and Adams would be the benter mids.

Tim Ream should be good for the Copa America, which is next summer.. If he has a good season in the Prem, then give him the Copa. After the Copa, others should be brought in. If in '2026, he is still somehow playing in the English Premier League, then bring him to the World Cup.

  6. Ream had a bad enough game against Uzbekistan that if I didn't know how good he's been I'd say he's out. And…

He hasn't had a great start to his season at Fulham either. I really hope he pulls out of it!

  7. I understand Herc’s argument but I would argue you should role with him until he’s not the best option. Phase him out when he shows a sustained decline

  8. Tim has been super solid. Of course we need to keep looking for up and coming C.B.s to replace older players. But does one bad game mean "Thank you so much but adios"? The run we had in the World Cup could absolutely be tied at least partially to Reams performance. Bring him back for October even if it's just to use him to shore up the defense later in a game or if somebody else goes down. JMO

  9. Time to move on from Ream. He has always been mediocre at best. Best to suffer through some growing pains with younger guys these next 2 years before the WC than hinder progress just for a band aid….an old band aid.

  10. Herc again proves why I'm glad he doesn't make these decisions. Tim Ream is our best CB and has been playing the best he has in his career. Tim will be 39 at the next WC but who cares, Thiago Silva is 39 and is still one of the best Center Backs in the world. Tim's performances warrant calls up to the national team. He shouldn't be cast aside because Herc is an ageist.

  11. Until Tim Ream is worse than the other options, he should be on the team. We'd like to do WELL in the next World Cup here in the US. Whoever is best should play/be on the team. Use other competitions to develop new guys.

  12. CCV, Chris Richards, Austin Trusty should be top 3. John Brooks is in that group, but GGG will never bring him in. Zimmerman and Long are the ones that should be moved on from. Start bringing in Neal to play against non-CONCACAF opponents. Miles needs to move to Europe to learn how to defend against the best in the world. Defense in MLS is a joke. Heck, GGG may not bring in Gio; holds a grudge and plays "his" system not the system that best fits the players.

  13. Tim Ream is the best Centerback we have at the moment, and is even captain for Fulham in the Premier League. Until he shows decline because of his age, he better continue being our #1 Centerback, and either CCV or Richards as his partner. Same thing with Ricardo Pepi, I've seen more of him in less time than Balogun with all his starts. #1 Ricardo Pepi, #2 Folarin Balogun, 3. Josh Sargent!

  14. Herculez Gomez is definitely (IMHO) one of the best & most honest football commentator on ESPN or any network! I always enjoy listening to his honest straight up commentary. Well done ESPN!

  15. He's one of the most experienced CBs in our player pool. Also, he captains a mid table epl team week after week. Our CB pool isn't so vast and talented that we should throw away someone playing at Reams level. He should start for us until the players beneath him overtake him.

  16. "earning valuable time" the next World Cup isn't everything. Copa America is next year and it's a BIG tournament, with the world champ and the country with the most World Cups coming to play in the US. if Ream is plausibly part of the best center back duo next year, he should be in contention as much as anyone else

  17. I don’t agree Herc. Using your logic, you would have retired Paulo Maldini early from Italy. Pep Guardiola even recently said of Tim Ream, that if he was younger, he would want him for City. Lastly, development mostly happens through tough competition on the day-to-day job. Time with the national team develops only team cohesion. And the team is more cohesive with Tim in the back.
