Spain is playing 16 to 19 year olds like Pedri, Gavi and Yamal, but Southgate is scared to give top players in the mid 20's regular minutes. How a player that has only played 10 minutes for his club walks into his national side as a regular on a team this deep is just baffling.
what about phillips he doesnt play at all, he is a terrible fouler but no one says anything when he starts, why?
He is no technical players, not fast, no good on the tacle, not a good reader of the game, and it's like England doesn't have many hungry young center backs. He is making an awful decision on picking him. He is not even playing for his club, so he is always rusty

Why isn't Southgate picking Evan Ferguson?
England have incredible options across the board and the team is absolutely capable of winning tournaments. However this wont ever happen while Southgate is the manager. No vendetta against the guy but imagine being coached by Guardiola or Ancelotti and then having to put up with Southgates chat.

These pundits just want views and to be relevant again after they retired from football. Let Maguire fight for his own place instead of convincing Southgate not to pick Maguire. They could have said that privately to Southgate but no they want to say it publically because that is what gets them views. How far society has fallen smh.

Spot on analysis and comments. While his loyalty is admirable, Southgate seems to be stubborn beyond belief in not playing his other alternatives including some very talented players in form with a pedigree to match. Above all, Southgate previously insisted he would pick players on form for their clubs and that they had to be playing regularly. He's ignored all of these criteria in continually picking Maguire.
People forget Harry had the chance to leave united during the summer. Fee was agreed but he chose money over first team football and a fresh start. If he gets stick then it’s his own fault.

Problem isn’t just maguire, it’s southgate. In a workplace scenario, if your manager was giving all the reward and recognition and bonuses to the guy thats been off sick for the past 6-12 months, you and your 4-5 colleagues would be absolutely miffed and would probably have the unions backing for a grievance. How southgate gets away with this is nothing short of miraculous.
