We don't have the players to suit Kenny's style of football yet hopefully soon
James McClean has the best ball delivery in the squad and good decision making and can still get a quality performance for 60 mins out of him.
James McLean hasn't been a problem at all. Better than O Dowda Stevens and also manning. Manning was poor again when he came on. Especially his delivery. He hasn't a turn of pace either. Will get skinned. Browne was good.
Let’s be honest when the draw was made we knew we weren’t going to beat France and unlikely to beat the Netherlands either . This group was always about third place for us to get into a playoff and hope for a good playoff draw. Ok we lost to Greece but if we beat them 2-0 at Lansdowne we are then ahead of them in the head to head of its what this comes down to . I can’t understand this not being our attitude in this . More to the point once again Irelands way supporters failed to turn up at Lansdowne , the support was crap ! Twice come in you boys in green and great excitement after we scored after that a flat nothing ! Not stand up for you boys in green once or any other support
Stephen should be allowed see this out !!!
Just to clarify… Nathan Collins did not say that "everybody is behind the manager" in your interview. He said, and to be precise, "i THINK MOST of the lads are( behind kenny)". Bit of a difference. It's time, has been since the Andorra debacle or the Luxembourg game. He doesn't deserve any vitriol or bad wishes but he should go before things do go that way. Also, for a man whonhad a heart attack, he doesn't need the stress that it is clearly having on him. He looks on the verge of a breakdown any time he is interviewed. There is also the possibility of him maybe moving to the states or canada for a coaching job or acadamy job. He won't get anything in the uk and a LOI job could be humiliating fir him. Best wishes to him either way but it hasn't worked
Kenny should be remembered as the worst Irish manager in history
Since kenny took over, its been easier to qualify for major tourlaments with nations league route, third spot playoffs etc. If steve staunton or brian kerr managed in current format they'd got us qualified, kenny is just a woeful manager, he couldn't manage a piss up at a brewery..
I think its bizarre… when people say "he did a really good job"…He plainly has not done a really good job. He is only a sympathetic figure because he is so clearly out of his depth. Hard not to feel sorry for him in that context. Its the associations manager to develop youth football and bring through players. Its the national teams manager to deliver results. Its also mythological about how bad we were in the past. I'm not saying that a lot of it was not tough to watch… but there was a lot good too. Perspective… is lacking… big time.
People hopping on the bandwagon saying mcclean shouldn’t play, only player that can cross a ball, when he went off we had no threat from set pieces which is the only way we score, manning wasn’t good when he came on and we got exposed more down that side when James went off. His positioning for the goal wasn’t wrong either Duffy broke the defensive line and played Dumfries onside
I think if Stephen Kenny goes I think they should find a role in the FAI for him like a development coach or head of development, Irish football could definitely use his vision of what he has for football and how well he knows our domestic league. But as a senior manager, I'm not sure anymore , I would go with someone (a coach) with experience in Europe or international management, which would be better suited for us.
