Ethan Horvath will start in goal for the United States men’s national team (USMNT) in their match against Oman, according to head coach Gregg Berhalter. Berhalter also praised midfielder Malik Tillman, a new signing for PSV Eindhoven, and expressed his intention to give Miami midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi his senior national team debut off the bench. The USMNT recently won 3-0 against Uzbekistan but struggled to create chances in front of goal. Berhalter expects Oman to present a different challenge, with a dynamic counterattack and a 4-4-2 diamond formation. He cited Oman’s performance against Germany, where they managed to take seven shots despite having only 28% of possession. Oman recently reached the final of the Gulf Cup and defeated Palestine 2-1. Berhalter sees the match against Oman as an important test for the USMNT.
