Haaland, terrific season that he's had, is only slightly ahead of Messi in productivity. Its so simple to me. Haaland would have won it if he had made a great impact on any of the finals City played. Because winning the treble with City is simply unprecedented, and while i personally think KDB and Rodri are way more important to the team than Haaland, we just know that the Balon D´or always favours the Goalscorer. So if Haaland had done something extraordinary in the finale (Just like Messi and Ronaldo almost always did when they were in their prime and made history with their club), then he would have been favourite to win it.
But he didnt. So Messi´s World Cup run greatly overrides anything Haaland has done this year, and he will be the worthy winner. Also he is also just a million times better of a player than Haaland, so is most of the City offensive in terms of overall quality, but i digress as that is never how the Balon D´or is decided.
