Sterling should be there we all know , he has quality . Them other shifty players
Southgate has mistreated a lot of players, like Ward-Prowse for example, who deserve to be in the squad over the likes of Maguire, Henderson and Phillips.
History and rivalries are important. For instance, would the Scots be ok with an English manager?
Sterling has been rubbish since he left City. Granted he’s started this season relatively well but it should take more than starring against Luton to force himself back into the team.
Mate how many times has sterling saved our asses in the national team ? He's arguably done more for us than Harry Kane coming into these tournaments

Ain't he the same guy that was scrapping with players from other clubs for things that have happened in the Prem?
To be fair, once Maguire has been selected for the squad every English footballer in the PL has a right to feel mistreated. Maguire in Sterling out proves talent and form are a distant 2nd to personal crushes for Southgate. Maguire quite literally doesn’t deserve his spot.
Southgate needs to consider the player’s mental health.

It looks form outside that Southgate picks players that he finds easier to work with rather than performance or skills. Week mentality
As a Chelsea fan I support decision for Southgate not to call Sterling. As our current best player and carrying us we can't afford the injury risk for a national cause that's never gonna succeed.
English Manager – What's someones country of birth got to do with their employment. That's racism if you are focused on that.
