  1. Being Danish, I remember 1992 so well. We even made a movie about the achievement, as we were really the biggest underdogs that year. The team had gone on holiday, but was recalled when Denmark was called in. And then Scmeichel proved why he was the world's best goalkeeper, pulling off miracle save after miracle save.

  2. During that France – Switzerland match, after the 3-1 I was like "Well, probably nothing is gonna change, I need to get up early tomorrow, so I'm going to bed". Wow was I wrong

  3. Eder, who scored the winning goal at Euro 2016, was considered an embarrassment to be part of the Portuguese team, but then thousands of critics had to apologize. After all, the national team's "worst" player ever was the unexpected hero.

  4. Considering the development, you are probably going to do the Copa America at some point. It should have a different tiering system though: There were 19 participants so far (the 10 Comnebol members plus guests Mexico (10 times), Costa Rica (5), USA (4), Jamaica and Japan (2 each) as well as Haiti, Honduras Panama and Quatar (1)). Out of these 19, 8 have won (all Comnebol members except Venezuela and Ecuador). Therefor, the list would be a bit bad if everyone who won it simply featured in S tier. So, it would be good to split S tier into 2-3 tiers (S+/S-) to split things like Brasil's WC 2002 (all wins) and Portugal's Euro 2016 (more draws than wins; at least, their two extra time wins were against their two strongest opponents on paper).
Or, you might make it a different thing altogether. Since there would be fewer countries to go over, but actually more tournaments held (since 1916 or so, I think there is some debate which actually was the first one), you could showcase everyone's two best runs (except the four one-timers). Bolivia and Columbia would get one below-S-tier run in this way.

  5. I may be Scottish, but anything that isn't an F is overrating. We have a bigger population than Croatia but constantly underperform. We struggle to even qualify even with potentially the best squad we have ever had. Failure thy name is Scotland.

  6. I lived in Germany in 1992–the day after the final, I encountered a group of Danish tourists who were all either completely drunk or who were so hyped up by the result as to be indistinguishable from drunkenness. As all the Germans around them were quietly gnashing their teeth in frustration. Quite the experience.

  7. 12:19 In Brazil the media tends to rooting for Portugal (I really don't known why because Portugal devasted Brazil for centuries) and they always disrespect the brillant work Greece does in Euro2004
