Chelsea fans always need to vibrate positive energy and belief. I was wary of Ajax but I also knew Chelsea could outfox them and nick it. Hudson-Odoi was poor today but thatβs ok. Match fitness is not something you just flip a switch and youβre on again. It takes a while for everything to come back again. Heβs been sidelined for the better part of 8 months, and I think heβs actually ahead of schedule in terms of performances. A good example is Oxlade-Chamberlain. He looked like a shadow of himself when he first came back from his injury, but what happened. While everyone was moaning about his form, Klopp stuck with him, kept faith in him, and played him, because he knew. Frank is doing the same thing with Hudson-Odoi because he knows the only way to get him up to speed is to persist with him. The benefits will come later as we can see in Oxlade-Chamberlainβs case.
What makes this win even more special is this the first ever meeting between the two sides on senior level. Who is scared now? Maybe we can ask Ajax officials or the very journalist who asked Frank the same question when they come to London.
