  1. Feels like it's all doom and gloom at the moment, things can only improve hopefully, some players we bought were inflated due to the Mendes connection. UTW

  2. Is it really so hard to understand what's going on at Wolves? OK, imagine for a moment that you owned the club and wanted to make a long-term profit. What would you do? Get a good manager in and then back them as far as possible but within the constraints of FFP and so on. If you put aside their many mistakes, you can see that that's actually what Fosun have tried to do right up until the start of this season. They have spent money – sometimes very badly but fairly consistently. Moreover, they have seldom sold on our better players and then only once the manager shows he clearly didn't favour them. We kept Neves for how long exactly? That's definitely not how you asset strip a club.

Fosun have tried to make Wolves successful on the pitch, and also off the pitch too. Indeed, they very desperately want to sell "The Wolves" brand to the Far East – no doubt about it – which does make sense financially and could be beneficial for developing a better team too in the long-term. Moreover, if they got things right on the pitch that would have massively helped with this marketing push. That's just how the modern world operates (sadly). The point is that there's no real contradiction here. So where did the project actually go wrong…?

Well, basically the biggest problem at Wolves for many seasons has been the poor appointment of team managers. In fact, Fosun have only ever appointed one manager who has enjoyed any sustained period of success. Under Nuno the club performed extremely well both on the pitch and also off it, but then the dreaded lurgy struck and Nuno and the club never quite recovered post-pandemic.

Under Lage our player recruitment was atrocious. Afterwards, it picked up again under Lopetegui during our last transfer window. That's surely not coincidental. Player recruitment to a great extent depends upon the manager obviously. Lage, although an ambitious appointment, turned out to be a really second-grade manager and so we ended up making a bunch of second-grade and overly inflated transfers – arguably the worst since Fosun got here. But then Fosun had actually been seeking Lopetegui's appointment all along, and when they finally got their man he initially helped us turn the corner, although soon afterwards became a complete liability (and that's putting it politely). Careful what you wish for! Point is the the ups and downs follow more or less directly from the appointments of team managers – as for most clubs. Too often Fosun have appointed very badly. (Lopetegui is a class manager but you obviously can't trust him, so another poor choice.)

Now we are back in transition yet again. Fosun have just had their fingers very badly burnt. The last minute signing of Gary O'Neil is most likely provisional and they probably won't be too keen to spend heavily again until it's quite clear that O'Neil can actually do the job. Which presents another problem. Because every manager needs backing obviously. And if Nunes does go then Fosun need to reinvest that money during this window. In my view, we also desperately need a replacement centre back whatever happens next.

Finally, I do hope they back Gary O'Neil and give the guy a proper chance. But we are definitely in a mess right now, and I can trace our problems all the way back to the appointment of Lage and Fosun's reluctance to sack him at the end of his first season (as they should have done). We are still paying now for the money he wasted back then.

  3. Surprised considering nunes seems like he could be a big player for us this season, you would accept that sort of fee. For FFP if wolves had to sell then fair…do we? If we are now ok and are not willing to sell and at this time of the window you slap a huge number on a player to make a big profit, a can’t say no figure

  4. I think Wolves have a problem, if they don't sort out the deal for him, Nunes will throw a wobbler and potentially down tools. He seems that type of character.

  5. Nunes as you say was always purchased with a view to eventual sale -if we can spin this out till Christmas his value will be more ( possible more competition ) however if we can get 65m-70m and get 2 covers in ..of proven quality he can go ….. Nelson …i love the guy ..but perhaps with 2 years left lets take the money .

in all a win the weekend would help ease the tension around the place ….for a brief period ….but jesus some of our fans just want to self destruct on self stupidity .

As for take overs …..not happening other than in the dreams of the ill informed until perhaps next season ( You know we really should approach Radcliff at INOS and say " Glaziers have rubbished you …here's a bargain show them what you can do)

Another great Report lads …at the moment i'm the only one of three coming up from Dartmouth every match thats maintaining a level of belief…..God its hard .

  6. Guys, I agree with you about Fosun. Absolutely we should be glad about what we have got. There's a lot worse out there. Some fans live in a cloud-cuckoo land where there is unlimited funds out there to be accessed and spent by the club. If we stay up this season, and why shouldn''t we, even if Nunes goes to Man City, then that will be job done and we can move on from there. For me, Lopetegui holds a huge amount of the blame for our current situation.

We need to get behind Gary O'Neill, the early signs are that he is not afraid of playing progressive football, which is risky, but it is also entertaining. UTW.

  7. First time I’ve ever said it lads but I’m officially fosun out. It’s plain to see that without the link between our owners and mendes they wouldn’t have a clue who to buy and we’d never have even got ourselves out of the championship. These boys don’t have a clue how to run a football club and I’m fed up with it now. I want them out and hopefully we can rebuild like Burnley did last season, maybe a season in the championship is exactly what we need we’ve gone so stale the past 3 years. Oh and accepting 60m for nunes is embarrassing is tired of my football club at this point, I literally have no positives

  8. Who’s out there to replace Nunes!!! Money in the bank means nothing If wolves are relegated.
Current market, time left in window and the fact it’s Man City, Wolves should be holding out for £75-80million

  9. I don’t think they would let Palmer go out on loan but I do think a good fee and a player or two on loan would be good, we’d have the depth and rather then ‘panic buy’ we could hold the money and wait til next season to see if we’re spending it as a prem team or a championship team

  10. As a Scottish wolves supporter all the Celtic pages up here reporting that they are in for podence but none of the wolves pages are reporting any on any of it any of you lads have any idea on the reliability ?

  11. I totally get what you're saying about fosun wanting to make a profit after all they've spent and they're fully entitled to do that but I find it utterly bizarre they havnt looked to sign 2-3 guys for a total of 20m, younger players that could be around the first team with potential to develop. Doesn't strike me of a club or owner with any long term thinking.

  12. Dave myself and other fans are ok selling what's pissing us off is sell but no one in ps I told you weeks ago about that FFP company house wolves have funds good video thank you

  13. I really think they need to sell the club really. It's all good selling and making the money and balancing the books, but we also need a balanced squad. I think 70m+ would be a fair fee for Nunes.

  14. This rate we will struggle to field a 1st eleven, will see the Wolves Ladies getting a call up to the mens at this rate. Wolves are being asset stripped and being made ready for the Championship, Fosun are killing our club.

  15. If I remember correctly we went through a period of roughly two seasons where we didnt actually spend any money as sales and purchases cancelled eachother out (Silva in Jota out etc). I think it was Nuno's last season and Bruno's first season. We managed to survive as a mid-table club during that period, I hope we make it through this period because it is really scary. It seems like a downsizing period where, no offence to O'Neill, we seem to be downgrading manager and coaching team wise (three year deal) and player wise as we sell good players for big fees but dont replace them and if we do it will be a lower class of player.
