Hugh Woozencroft and Rory Jennings discuss Manchester City’s transfer business so far and debate whether they should focus on a historic fourth Premier League title in a row or do one better than their spectacular treble.

  1. Pep Guardiola doesn't rest on his laurels. If any player expresses a desire to leave he'll show them where the door is instantly.
City are the best team in England and Europe and nobody else is even close at the moment.

  2. Competition for places makes the squad's performance stronger. Those that don't like rotation are allowed to leave with no drama. City as much as I hate saying it is just a well-oiled machine…no pun intended.

  3. United keep underperforming for years. City sell top performing players, and do just as well the next season. Remarkable.

  4. How can you say winning the prem next season isnโ€™t good enough is stupid if they win the prem for the fourth year in a row thatโ€™s a new never done before record

  5. Imagine how Cancelo feels๐Ÿ˜‚ loaned to Bayern and they donโ€™t want him back, but rather want his peer in the very same position

  6. I'm a CITY fan and if we just we the premier next season I'll be buzzin to do four in a row would be an amazing achievement,to do something that's never been done before would be a great season for us

  7. I find it quite naรฏve for him to suggest that winning the Premier League is not an impressive achievement "for a club with their manager and players". If it wasn't for Bernardo Silva and Haaland effectively compensating for the lack of form in practically half the team earlier in the season, they would not have won the Premier League for a third time in a row.

In order to win a league multiple times, you need to replace players who lose their hunger, and I think Man City's streak of poor form following their loss to Liverpool was a sign of certain players not being up to the task. One could argue that they were favorites to win it, purely based on the talent in their squad, but talent means nothing without effort and motivation.

If Haaland hadn't been as clutch as he was, and Bernardo hadn't occupied 3 positions on his own thanks to his inhuman work rate, then the matches leading up to the start of the world cup would've caused them to trail Arsenal by a significant amount of points. Winning the Premier League isn't as easy as some people make it out to be.

  8. Check out the interview between PEP and Gary Neville. Pep clearly says you can't keep winning continuously with the same squad. Hence players going out and coming in is necessary.
If Bernardo really wants to leave, City wont stop him.
Cancelo left at peak, what did he do at Bayern?
Jesus, Sterling left, what did they do?
Its clear these players play well because of PEP.
So any new player comes in will definitely play well from the 2nd year onwards.
