  1. So I am definitely an Avs fan and stopped watching closely after they left the playoffs the last few years. But, was whining after every single goal Tampa’s strategy for their two previous cup runs or do/did they ever just, you know, try to outplay the opposing team?

  2. As an admittedly biased oilers fan, I think the Connor McDavid argument for the conn smythe is valid. No hate on makar tho, dude is unreal and deserved it as well

  3. I'm just so proud of "the clutchmaster" Lehkonen. He sent the habs to the finals and they lost. He sends his new team to the finals again and ends up getting the cup winning goal. I'll always be a kings fan to the grave but I'll always cheer for my countrymen and now after Olli Määttä doing it previously in 2017, the cup is finally coming back to Finland. Thank you Lehkonen and Rantanen. I love you.

  4. the take away from this i think is that all of tampa's goals and saves were overwhelming skill, and most of the avs goals and saves were a combination of luck and the refs secretly being members of their staff.

  5. I'm a little tired of pretty much everyone just singing Tampa's praises… yeah, they're a great team, but can we give some love to this year's champs? The announcers all series for the final were clearly pro-Lightning; it was actually really annoying how obviously pro-Lightning they were. Steve is obviously rooting for the Lightning. And I felt like a bunch of the analysts and half-time people were pretty strong Tampa supporters as well. Yeah, Tampa deserves a ton of credit–they really are a great team. But to be honest, take away Vasi and where are you? Still have a great team, but I guarantee they win significantly less. The Avs did this with Kuemper in net–who I have to say I did NOT think was up to a cup run this year. Never been a huge Kuemper fan, but I have to say he played what I think is his best year so far. So I'll give him that–he was phenomenal compared to his previous years' performance. All I'm saying is that the Avs have less huge stars, less goal-tending power, and they still pulled it out. Strongly. Let's give them some love, huh? They had GRIT.

  6. I swear, at least 85% of the passes Cirelli receives are to his feet. I was noticing that all season. It’s like everyone sees him moving slower than he actually is.

  7. Kadri’s goal was invalid not because of the number at the moment the goal was scored. Kadri jumped onto the ice for Landeskog, I believe it was, but Landeskog was at the far circle (i.e. more than 5 feet from the bench) when Kadri jumped on, and Kadri played the puck before Landeskog got off which is a textbook Too Many Men call. The two extra Lightning players on the ice the moment the goal was scored were not involved in the play, were within 5 feet of the bench, and the players they were replacing were not playing the puck which is legal.

And that 3 on 2 for the series-clinching goal was invalid because it broke because of an uncalled penalty. It’s hard to play defense when you get knocked over when you’re nowhere near the puck.

The Lightning would likely have forced a game 7 if the refs hadn’t shoved their whistles up their you-know-whats. The Avs were clearly the better team, but they still almost lost it to a Lightning team with a Braden Point who had a torn quad. If it weren’t for the refs on those 2 Avalanche GWGs, it’s entirely plausible the Lightning could have clinched it in 6, although it’s more likely it would have gone to 7.

  8. Steve, the Avs have been around for a “short time?” They have been around for 43 years as a franchise. Remember a team called the Quebec Nordique? Your producer was wearing their jersey for game 6. I guess it is a short time when you look at the leafs who haven’t been to a cup final 55 years

  9. I felt Drews Feeling when the Caps won the Cup. Partied all night! Steve, You will get your time!
