I’ve thought for a while now if Enzo is out the obvious in house replacement is Reece. I see them as very similar players in the middle. Both also need a high energy player next to them. Both are extremely happy anywhere on the pitch receiving the ball. Both have the passing range. Both tackle relying heavily on their body contact/positioning. I think Enzo is quicker to move the ball and edge intelligent with decision making having played in the position longer. Reece would add pace for counter attacks. This is not talked about enough especially as I see it Gusto in preseason is winning the right back battle.
Tbh, if CFC are “backing themselves in a corner” for Caicedo. Enzo better have the most phenomenal szn than anyone else. The fact that we could have two 100m mids better produce results. I just hate that we feel that Caicedo is the only mid in the world that help our midfield. If we get him, I feel him and Enzo have to be our most dynamic plyrs this szn because they’ll be the link between defence and attack

I’m so happy chelsea are looking to the French league for player recruitment. A lot of our previous successful players have come from that league
Why not go for gortetzaka if poch is looking for an experienced partner for Enzo with Santos as backup, caicedo at 100m is ridiculous but Chelsea will probably do it
While agreeing on the assessment, I also think it would be unfair to send out Ugochukwu on loan without first giving him a few mins with us. Specially given how Santos surprised so many in preseason. If we're keeping Santos then no reason Ugochukwu shouldn't be in the debate. Just in terms of minutes/experience Santos might be around 17 games forward than Ugochukwu, but I'd say Ugochukwu has had it at a more higher level.
If we don't get Caicedo, then given the profile of player Ugochukwu is, I think it would also be fair to assume he'd be a better fit next to Enzo with duel capability (specially aerially). So likely to get more minutes.
Santos is still the next Xavi, I stand by it. But I think we could make use of both. If we're truly building/developing.
