Manchester City’s move for Lucas Paqueta has collapsed after it emerged the West Ham playmaker is the subject of a Football Association investigation into alleged betting breaches. MailOnline revealed on Friday that the £85million-rated Brazilian is being scrutinised amid concerns that the game’s gambling rules have been broken. It is believed the investigation centres on bets which were placed with bookmakers in Brazil and that they relate to in-game incidents as opposed to the outcomes of West Ham’s matches. Sources also alleged that the alarm was raised when accounts were traced back to Paqueta Island in Guanabara Bay, which is where Paqueta grew up. The 25-year-old is expected to seek advice from his legal team as the FA’s investigation continues. It is understood Paqueta has yet to be formally interviewed by disciplinary chiefs and that the player is immediately denying any wrongdoing.

  1. He's probably involved. He must have tried to help a friend or friends and it got out of hand. Can't imagine anything different. 10m a year means something close to 38.461,53 minimum wages here in Brazil. It's just bizarre.

  2. Lol this man's a joke paqueta gets booked all the time trying resealing football he been booked in his first 2 premier league games

  3. What's this bloke on about, obviously doesn't watch Paqueta play every week, surprised his not odds on every week I'd say his 80% at least every game for a booking it's the way he play's.
