On ‘Good Morning Transfers’ the panel of David Reed, Olivia Buzaglo, Sam Obaseki and French football expert Tom Williams discussed Rennes player Jeremy Doku.

Doku is expected to travel to the northwest on Tuesday to undergo a medical, after Manchester City agreed a £55.5m deal to sign the winger

The Belgium international has been linked with a number of Premier League teams this summer and is now set to join the champions.

Man City are looking for a winger to replace Riyad Mahrez, who left for Saudi Arabia in the wake of City’s treble-winning season.

  1. Adds some unpredictability and spontaneity to City. Good option to have for some games or situations. Can play both flanks too. Wouldn't surprise me if Pep converted him into something like a fullback either.

  2. Why do they keep saying “a lot of money”. 55million quid in today’s market is not a lot of money. Appears to be the average prices quoted on almost all players nowadays

  3. Kid has electrifying pace , remember one game on the Euros ( think it was against Italy) he was unstoppable with his dazzling runs and dribbling , Pep might turn him into a beast

  4. Net-spend is a nice point an all when you're considering the future, but, with probably only two season left with Pep, I'd argue that the finished product would be the better spend at this time. Unless you're Real Madrid, aided by playing in a weak LiLiga, no side in club football has been as successful as Pep's City. That level of performance and achievement can't be expected to continue when it is finally time for the Catelan to walk on. So, considering a short-term period where City will want to further fill the trophy case, I'm just not sure a project, for as exciting as Doku is, is the best move to make. You'd think that City fans and the board would want an established winger or an established goal-scoring mid-fielder to give Pep the tools to manage a full campaign of fixtures and competitions. That said, I am really interested to see Doku taking on his defender.

  5. Doku will bring you pace, get you to the byline but thats it. It seems a strange signing for me because even someone like moussa diaby would’ve been the same but better technically.
Pep will bench him within 2nd season mark my words. Does this all the time with black players.
