MOROCCO GOALKEEPER SUDDENLY DISAPPEARED WHEN BELGIUM VS MOROCCO KICK OFF AT WORLD CUP 2022
There was confusion in the World Cup Group F clash between Morocco and Belgium when a different goalkeeper lined-up for the African nation. Sevillaβs Yassine Bounou had been named on the team sheets for the match and warmed up for the game as normal. He then walked out for the national anthems and appeared alongside his teammates. However, there was confusion when he did not take his place in goal for the start of the match. Morocco made a late switch with Munir Mohamedi instead lining-up in goal. No one seemed to know exactly what was going on and fans were confused as to what happened to Bounou. There has been no official word from the Moroccan team as to why they made the late change. It has been reported that he was taken ill shortly before the game began. However, by the time the team came to take their squad photo, between the anthem and the game starting, Bounou was no longer around. Instead back up keeper Munir was standing alongside the rest of the team, and took his place in the starting line up as the game started. Amusingly when he made his first save of the game, just five minutes in, from Michy Batshuayi, the commentators gave Bounou the credit for the save. It then took until the 38th minute of the game until the BBC acknowledged that it wasn’t such a beautiful day for the Sevilla shot stopper, although there was no clarification why.
