  1. Look Trent is not a bad choice. Hone grown and can pass a ball. The question is do Liverpool go a flat or diamond midfeild in a 4-4-2 formation in order to support him in midfeild.

Or do we go 3-1 at the back and 3-3 mid & upfront.
Or stick with 4-3-3 and get another replacement right back?

  2. OMG ! Stop this FSG PR crap. 1 decent game against a poor side and he is somehow world class. Judge him when he plays against France or Spain.

  3. Its so simple. Its clear for EVERYBODY to see that when TAA started going into midfield in the last 10ish games of the season, Liverpool were fantastic and went on a long winning run and had the best form in the league. He played in midfield for England and got MOTM. I dont even know anyone in the world that can do what he has done in midfield, im sure there is but it would cost 100M if there is. Where as i can name a few RBs off the top of my head that you could buy for cheap. WALKER, CANCELO, LAMPTEY just for an example. If TAA doesnt play midfield next season, i would honestly consider sacking Klopp.

  4. Klopp likes a player who can cover positions, think we will see that with Fabihno and others alongside trent doing a job. You can just mix and match when your playing against certain opposition.

  5. i’d honestly rather our next signing be a right back than a midfielder, in midfield we could have a starting 3 of mac, fab and trent then as subs we’d have thiago curtis bajcetic hendo whereas at right back we have trent then gomez. My priority signing now would be dumfries or timber then after that one of thuram or kone then if we have anything left after that get a young centre back who can challenge vvd eventually

  6. Was he brillant against Malta in midfield?? Watched the full game and didn't see it. He had moments because HE's brilliant, but he was struggling to get on the ball and actually face forward the way I saw it. He was better in games for Liverpool where we had 4 in midfield and he dictated play. I think everyone's just excited about this new role and wants to jump on the train, but when I see the 2nd half against MALTA, I don't think he even touched the ball alot.

  7. I trust Klopp s choice over Southgate, Jamie and every pundits.
Being culpable defensive Trent has been the arrow of our attacks from RB.
If the team and coach says RB I say RB

  8. No need to buy a right back… hear me out… Gomez. He is built for this new system. We can play that wide centre back role, has experience at RB, is physical and has the pace.

with regards to trent, he could (and does do) a great job in a double pivot like role with Fab. He has more time to work his magic in the 6. I just think that against quality opposition (especially one who can press) he'll really struggle to play his game.

But there's proof of RB's bossing midfield… Bayern Munich have been doing this for years (Philip Lahm moved from RB to 6, and Kimmich is currently doing the same!)

  9. If Klopp is as good a manager as people say he will recognise there’s a need to replace Trent’s RB responsibilities with someone else and allow him to concentrate on his new career as Englands best midfielder.

  10. Are we really going to have this conversation

He’s won the champions league , and premier league … at left back

Half of our trouble this season was overpacking the midfield moving Trent more inside

Salah was left exposed and had nowhere to cut inside

  11. Timber seems to be on the market who is versatile enough to be right back that can defend and right sided centre back. The issue is we are swapping Trent out rather than adding him in to have the extra man. I think its best to have versatile defenders on both sides to cover that space

  12. Joe Gomez fits the exact profile of a "John Stones style" right CB. He's played CB, RB, LB, and DM and is much better on the ball than Konate is. I think we could see the best of him in the new formation.

  13. Im not 100% on the midfield switch. Yes against poorer sides when he's the time to look up and move the ball about but when up against tougher opposition where he's got to dig in and defend the middle of the park, Im not sure he's up to it unless the likes of Macallister and Hendo (or whomever we end up bringing in) can help protect Trent in his new almost quarterback role.

Admittedly, he does seem happier in the middle of the park but I believe what we have in Trent is a luxury player. Hes wasted (well, kind of) in RB role but then I dont believe he's an out and out midfield starter either as what he brings wont suit every game.

  14. not sure lfc have the money or should i say fsg wont give enough money to klopp to get a right back and then a defender as cover and i think defender is more important

  15. Watch Trent in the England matches, he likes being mid-high and does a lot of casual walking. Not committing to too many challenges or interceptions. I’m worried he isn’t going to press as much. I believe this is what Klopp looks at.

  16. We need a CDM since with fab being crap this year way more balls are getting straight through him and casing problems for the CB’s

  17. No, we could have prime Gerard back and the shit show that is the Liverpool midfield would not be fixed. We need better player AND more players. Thiago, Fab, and Hendo are useless. Harvey is a winger and his defensive positioning is abysmal, Jones and Bajcetic are really promising, but not the finished articles. The only starter quality reliable midfielder is MacAlister, that’s it. Liverpool NEED 3 midfielders and one CB this window at bare minimum.

  18. Yes and its always been under the bosses nose. The fans knew it and now that Southgate are taking the plaudits for finding it out its a bit embarrassing to see. Jurgen may have seen something we never did but now its time to give Trent his freedom in midfield then we can see him become one of the greats.

  19. Without the ball and the two who play next to him is the problem. Trent in the midfield certainly adds some swagger to Liverpool's midfield. The forwards are alive waiting for that ball fizzed in to feet or slid through the lines to get after. Legs and pressence for the big games is needed, like the presenter says caceido would of been ideal.

  20. I'd be really upset if Klopp persists with Trent at RB. It'll be unbalancing for him if he keeps getting juggled btw RB and Midfield for club and country. He's world class at Midfield and a liability defending at RB

  21. Absolutely not, he could be boss in the midfield but Liverpool still need two more boss mids at least and using Trent as a cheap out option will not suffice if FSG do that I will lose all faith in them

  22. If Trent is the solution then we need a right back and the other day you were saying we aren’t in the market for a rightback per club sources, plus we just loaned out the Scottish kid.

I think Trent will continue with the role he played towards the end of last season.

  23. No. He is not. We need to Stop being cheap. Let him float. But Liverpool and now fans are accepting shite levels of investment. Jude was £90 mil..fucking joke..we're just cheap..the kit ain't tho.

  24. I've been going on about putting TAA in midfield for ages. Kyle Walker looks like he might be moving. With his pace, I reckon we could get 3-4 years out of him and then if he slows down a bit, we still have a banker for a few more years. Curtis looks like he's ready and Harvey could be to if he could bulk up a bit to stop being bounced around like a beach ball. We have Mac Allister so that adds to the mix.

If we went 3 5 3, you would have TAA and Robbo in midfield. You could have a back line of VVD, Konate and possibly Walker. TAA and Robbo could be the wingers and then you have Mo, Luiz, Cod and Darwin as choice at the front. I dunno if Klopp would go with a 3 at the back but TAA and Robbo could certainly defend in front.

    Just an idea.

  25. We need a couple of box to box quality midfielders to compliment and allow him the time to do his stuff.. Plus a new right back

  26. Niel, excellent points there mate. With merits, it all makes sense. I just wonder if Klopp is playing his cards to his chest "tactically." This must be giving him so many variations and tactical options. After all. Liverpool and Klopp is the only team to compete against Citeh.

Couple of moons ago, when Southgate was getting flack from not fielding Trent , I think back in 2020/21 and klopp was asked "if not at rightback, where should Southgate field Trent to affect his skills" and Klopp nonchalantly replied "I'd play his as a 6"

I believe that comment went under the radar with most pundits and journos
