‘£21.5m offer coming in’ for midfield target

Liverpool’s rumored list of targets continues to grow as the club head into the new season, having just made two signings.

Jurgen Klopp saw Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai walk through the door, however, the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho made the midfield scene that much harder to break through with just a week to go before the decider against Chelsea.

Perhaps the departures were not expected to go as far as they did, but now that is the case, the Anfield bosses must adapt to provide Klopp with what he needs to compete at the top once again.

Defensive midfield reinforcements therefore remain key as the Reds play with the possibility of an engine room and defensive additions ahead of the September 1 deadline.

Brazil’s latest suggestion is that Liverpool will soon submit a £21.5m bid for Fluminense midfielder André Trindade.

Following Romeo Lavia’s second rejected offer earlier this week, ECHO has reported the 22-year-old’s emergence as a possible target with genuine interest from Liverpool.

Fast-forward four days and, if Brazilian channel Terra is to be believed, the situation should be unfolding positively as the midfielder’s club have been told they expect an offer ‘in the next few days’.

What’s more, another Brazilian outlet, Globo Esporte, claimed that the Reds’ interest in André did not come out of the blue as a result of setbacks in their pursuit of Lavia, but instead was a three-year observation process stretching back to 2020.

As for Romeo Lavia, on Friday it was claimed that there was no “imminent transfer” for the Belgian, as compatriot journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported that the midfielder would be included in Southampton’s season opener against Sheffield Wednesday.

Ultimately, the 19-year-old was only named on the bench and did not play as his side scored a late winner to start the campaign on a strong note.

Speaking after the game, Saints manager Russell Martin said: “Of course there will be people going, and when they go, we hope we can add players that suit us and help the group.

“For the next four weeks, the squad will be different. That’s an integral part [of football].”
