Like the overlay.
I think he is overpriced, has great potential but personally I would rather sign Doku (who would be cheaper and stats are much better take ons, touches in the oppo box etc, etc.) also PB has earned a spot in the squad. We have our own gems in the academy, we need to trust in our own and not block the pathway to the first team.
Imagine having Doku, Diaby, Bailey, philodene-Bidance as options?

Bailey has raw pace but is easily dispossessed, only really effective in open space. Diaby, F Torres (and B Johnson tbf) can ride tackles making them much more effective. £40M+ too much for Johnson for me. If F Torres is available though, straight in with a bid. Felix would be class on loan.
Re: Brennan Johnson and Cameron Archer. If Villa want to avoid FFP rules then they need to keep the best academy prospects at Villa park and blood them. Johnson shows that if you play them, they get good.
Do we need him though?
Diaby is a much better player, while Archer and Philogene have both been outstanding in pre-season.
Can’t imagine Felix coming here, clearly wants a ‘bigger club’ with CL football. Torres would be a good signing however, he wants to stay at Barca’ .
We really need to strengthen in others areas (GK and RB) before looking at getting another attacker and also offload some players first.

He picks Brentford over us if it’s a choice my opinion. I think he would have hard getting game time with us.
If we didn’t get Diaby then I think we would of been the club for him. We already had a player pick wolves over us last season for same thing for Game time. At certain point in his career his needs to be important player and with us he be a squad rotation player to begin with
If emery wants to win the europa conference and finish in the top 5 which I suspect will be his lowest ambition then we need top class cover in all areas
I’d say we have that now in midfield and defence but not attacking wise we don’t , signing Brendan Johnson would go a long way to changing that
The pace and the potential to develop, would be a fantastic addition to the squad, i feel like if Bailey/Diaby partnership doesn't take off like it did at Leverkusen then Johnson could get the regular game time and its Bailey who would be back up, with Philogene likely to be kept around having impressed so far, its more likely the shadow striker role that Johnson would take up, with Archer and Duran likely to fill those positions its difficult to fit him into the squad, like you say with Coutinho and Troare possibilities to leave then space opens up to come into and no disrespect but neither of those 2 mentioned are improving our side moving forward, until their off the wage bill, it will be difficult to sign off on financially, would love to add him to our squad once surplus to requirements are moved on, some fans fantasies about Coutinho doing bits for us, but Stevenage exposed his enthusiasm for being on our journey, he's been there and done that, his humbleness gets praised, but in reality I don't think he's arsed about what happens now career wise, coming from a none prestigious background from Brazil to the dizzy heights of stardom he's achieved to date, winning the 3rd tier European competition isn't going to whet the appetite, no time for sentiment for me just move on improve with younger, hungrier talent looking to make a name for themselves rather than looking for one last huge contract before expiring the sell by date.
That was a long winded way of saying id be happy to sign Johnson but hopefully it makes sense …UTV !!!

I have been watching some Brentford Pods of late and there all a bit nervous for this season. A few of the Brentford Lads fear they could drop dramatically as not alls well at the club. They have lost some quality players at the end of last season and haven't replaced them as money is tight so l'll be watching Brentford closely. Brennan Johnson won't be going there because of Brentford's current circumstances.
