Belgium are setting up with a back three under Roberto Martinez. This video explains why this is slightly different to England’s line-up, and what to expect from the Belgians this World Cup tournament, including their opening game tomorrow against Panama.

  1. "But Martinez' side actually look very comfortable playing this stye".

Until Carrasco forgets the man running in behind him and every belgian fan gettting a heart attack.

  2. I'm not sure I entirely agree with the Pressing point that Belgium press as high as Liverpool. I think Belgium are more replicating Chelsea's 3-4-2-1 system where they often drop off when they don't have the ball. Against Panama, Warren Barton as the commentator actually kept criticizing them for NOT pressing higher up when Panama had the ball, but that wasn't the game plan. Quite often they sat back, invited Panama forward, and looked to spring their front 3 on quick counters whenever they could.

  3. Only a matter of time before Martinez gets another shot at the club level. He is a good manager and I have a feeling this World Cup will show that.

  4. Carrasco is a great winger, but his talent is waisted when pushed to constantly defend. The only solution is to use him as a super sub for Hazard and let Vertonghen take on the left back position in a 4 man defence. Vertonghen has a superb cross and technical ability and would defend with confidence in that position. Meunier is perfect on the right back position. With injury worries now resolved, the options for the central back position are plentiful: Alderweireld/ Vermaelen/ Kompany/ Boyata

  5. Overall Horrible tactic analysis. There's no improvement in the analysis over the years. Only focuses on the individuals rather than the team as a whole. An analysis should not only be focused on the 'pretty' presentation. Tifo Football you need to, at least, give the full picture of attack patterns and the management of defensive lines in the different phases of the game. I would rather watch the analysis from Piotr Foot channel(https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiQRnlP5wwjtVKqOdQB26-g/featured).

  6. Meunier playing his heart out, and limiting Neymar to great effect in the quarter finals. He was sadly suspended against France in the semis …

  7. But instead of the criminally underrated world class player Dries Mertens, he puts on Nacer Chadli against France and single handedly costs Belgium a World Cup
