On The Overlap this week, we have an exclusive interview with England and Manchester United star Marcus Rashford, brought to you by Sky Bet.

We caught up with Rashford during a pre-season training camp in Portugal as he gears up for his ninth season as a first-team player and his second under Erik ten Hag.

Following his 30-goal haul last campaign โ€“ his most prolific yet โ€“ Rashford reveals how much his personal psychologist and strength & conditioning coaches have helped him recover from setbacks and injuries since bursting onto the scene in 2016.

Marcus talks about the importance of having a close family network and overturning government policy, highlighting an all too real issue when he bumped into a childhood friend who had become homeless.

Lastly, he reveals his ambitions for Manchester United, and what it would mean if he could break Wayne Rooneyโ€™s goalscoring record and his intention to win the biggest trophies at Old Trafford.

  1. Fantastic interview from GNev . Marcus Rashford is genuinely the most humble football player I've seen. He deserves alot more respect than we gets. Two Top Blokes .โค

  2. My man got Ballon d'or shout outs of for actually doing his job for two months. Halaand gets criticized for not scoring for couple of games, while this guy can go under the radar for months. The power of PR…

  3. The way they set up these interviews you wouldโ€™ve thought he won multiple PLโ€™s with us. All this gloryโ€ฆ smh

  4. Donโ€™t understand the Utd fans that give him stick, yes he can sometimes be frustrating but there arenโ€™t many better than him in his position that we could realistically get. If he can keep his level from last season up consistently we will be rewarded

  5. As a Sports Physiotherapist having spent most of my life in elite sport.. This young man simply just 'gets it'…Amazing to see an athlete invest in themselves working on the basic principle of 'my product is my body and based on optimal conditioning and attention to every detail I leave no stone unturned'.. Good on you fella. The Campus is such a great facility and use it all the time.. Wonderful place and facilities with great staff. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  6. Last season Rashford was sensational ๐Ÿ‘ however just like Diego Simone said he won Atletico Madrid 2 Titles during Cr7, Messi, Iniesta & Xavi Era. No excuse why you can't help Man United win as well.

  7. Benzema started with no left foot, son worked on his left foot every day to the extent he can do a long range curler off his weak foot, perisic when he was at dortmund/wolfsburg werent that good with his left.

  8. It's very easy to understate the importance of people like Rashford and (formerly) Mata at United. Young fans need role models who are smart, thoughtful, charitable and loyal. The league and sport overall is awash with greedy, selfish narcissists who spend all of their free time flaunting and promoting themselves and their money in ways that teach kids zero valuable lessons and breed resentment. This is the kind of player United should be aspiring to nurture, his is the attitude United should be trying to foster in the dressing room. Frankly I don't care if he finishes as top scorer or misses every shot, he's the best ambassador for the club that we have and he will always have my support.

  9. As a Liverpool fan I've nothing but admiration for this exceptional young man! Absolute credit to his family and testament to him mum! Football rivalry aside fantastic player and more importantly fantastic human being

  10. An absolute fine gentleman, seems he has his head at the right place.

Up next; bring us Maguire – some gems..we need to hear his side of things

  11. I love watching Marcus as a Liverpool guy he's a great guy and person he's done loads in the pandemic to help young people I have nothing but respect for him he's great on and off the pitch.

  12. Imagine if Mbappe had LVG Ole and Southgate( who wastes him) as coaches.

Rashfords stats pre COVID was nigh on the same as CR7s at the same age ,perhaps he doesn't have that ruthlessly selfish attitude to become the next CR7 but there are millions of schoolkids who won't be as bloody hungry thanks to that.

  13. I have complete faith that Marcus is going to break his best scoring record from last season, and along with that another trophy for United. Let's go Marcus GGMU!

  14. I havnt always been sure hes been the right man with his ups and down in form, but Marcus Rashford is certainly a mature motivated bloke for his age ,and if he stays confident in his own ability, could very well break wazzas record. He speaks well in this interview.

  15. I don't just respect the fact Marcus Rashford is a loyal Manchester United player. I like him as a person as a whole and I am not known for being a huge liker of people.

  16. Think Neville didn't want to beat a current player but he would have won that . The last winning goal was given to Rashford ๐Ÿ˜‚

  17. I hope Rashford can really get to the top whether that's playing on the left or up front. Hes definitely got his head screwed on right
