The Netherlands defeated the United States 3-1 in the last 16 of the World Cup and secured a place in the quarter-finals. The first half of the match ended with a score of 2-0 in favour of the Netherlands thanks to goals by Memphis Depay and Daley Blind, which were the result of accurate passes from Denzel Dumfries. In the second half, the United States managed to score a goal in the 76th minute thanks to a sucessful shot by Hadji Wright, but Dumfries decided the fate of the game in favour of the Netherlnds with his volley in the 83rd minute.
