Haji is our wild card. He plays in a tough league and might be valuable against Iran. Maybe he always was in the back of the coach's mind and he was testing the other players.

I have no issue with Wright making the team. I'm interested in why Pepi who saved Behalter's job is snubbed? Wright, Pefok & Sargent are similar to me except Wright and Pefok may have a little more athleticism. Pefok played badly in in the last window; he was basically invisible in build-up play and blew the only chance created. Pefok's form isn't the best right now and I think
Wright has the biggest upside. People say it's only Turkey, but he is showing things that the USMNT aren't in the attacking third. Lastly, Wright could also be that super sub that comes in late. I hate a lot of the decisions Berhalter makes, but this one is pretty smart.
Sargent was never in danger of being left off regardless of form.

It’s more surprising that Jordan Morris made the squad. Bad form at club level. The ACL injuries have caused him to lose his explosiveness. In what world is Mihalovic not a better attacking option. I would take Hoppe over Morris and he hasn’t played in what seems like years

As Haji's first soccer coach, I'm a little upset with these comments. I've seen Alexi make mistakes as center back. He's not in a position to critique a forward. US has had terrible strikers. Lets wait to see how it works out. Todays opener is a clear understanding of experience vs skills. Haji might surprise us all. Respect….
I think Haji Wright will excel in the last fifteen minutes of a game and be a terror on corner kicks because of his size. Mark my works, I am a soccer expert.
