Aliou Cisse is the youngest coach at this World Cup at 42 years old, and his Senegal side gave a superb defensive performance to overcome a strong Polish outfit 2-1 and give the African side real hope pf progressing to the next round. Though upset by the withdrawal of centre back Kamil Glik before kick-off, Adam Nawalka’s Polish team boasted Rpbert Lewandwoski, Arkadiusz Milik, and Piotr Zielinksi, all significant attacking talents, and it was due to Senegal’s excellent defensive shape and intelligent positioning and pressing that none of these players flourished.

  1. Great video, but I think what you mean is Alfred N’diaye (13) not Badou N’diaye (17), the latter even did not play on that match.

  2. Thank you for actually looking at an African team's tactics and their abilities other than 'pace and power'

  3. Having pace in your team is one thing, combining that pace with intelligent positions is what elevates Senegal this WC. Now they have to keep their nerve.
Mané is such a good player, hope Senegal can progress but as a Liverpool fan, I want them gone so Mané is fresh for the season.

  4. What really impresses me about Senegal is something Tifo made a point of. West and Southern African teams aren’t usually as well organized defensively as this year’s Senegal team is. Combined with how explosive and fast they are on the attack (Mané and Niang are absolutely rapid) and you have an extremely dangerous squad. I don’t expect this team to repeat the exploits of their 2002 squad, but I wouldn’t be surprised either.

  5. The question is, can they maximize Kouyate's ability ? Based in facts they lacks creative players, like Saivet and good crosser from LB like Souare. Probably they also lacks cover on CB w/o Djilobodji so they use this style to stymies sides like Poland, and probably Japan?

  6. This is exactly why i rate your channel so highly TIFO keep up the good work. Excellent analysis. Much love from Nigeria.

  7. Wait … is it a YouTube channel analysing african football with more words than pace and power……you my friends got yourself another sub
