Several outlets in England are reporting a USMNT midfielder Weston McKennie transfer from Juventus to Arsenal. It’s still just a rumor at this point but I break down why or why not this would be a good move and whether or not Mikel Arteta would be able to get the best out of him at the Emirates stadium.

  1. Yes, he's going to a real club and not a joker like Aston Villa or whatever other wack club was asking for him. My only concern is one less (interested) party for Musah. No way they buy TWO US midfielders, that leaves Musah with "only" Liverpool and Inter as his premium options that he deserves. For McKennie though, this is fantastic, HE CAN MAKE IT THERE. Only cowards want him to make a "safer" choice.

  2. Arsenal would be a very good move. They have room for him on their roster and need the depth. I believe his work rate and natural ability will give him a chance to be good for my Gunners

  3. My only concern is that the style of football Arsenal plays require their players to be very technical I'm just not sure if Mckennie is technical enough to play for Arsenal but if they want him than that means Arteta believes he's good enough. Imo the Juve situation isn't as bad as people are saying he's a consistent starter there and Juve will bounce back and probably will still qualify for Europa league or UCL. Staying at Juve or going to Arsenal both are good moves.

  4. US and Arsenal fan, I think ESR is probably better than McKinney but they barely play the same position but he could easily beat out Lokonga and it would be a competition with him and Vieira for that midfield spot behind Xhaka and I think he beats Elneny for the Partey spot.

  5. I’d be so happy, love Arsenal and Weston McKennie. But I do hope he does well there tho, hope it offers him something there, lot of good young energy and enthusiasm, feels like everyone’s kill it over there.

  6. good analysis Pete! I tend to think the Prem is the perfect league for Weston as it's a fast paced, physical and technical league, all things Weston can put on display(he did put on a bit of a show vs England in Qatar). Like you said, every time he's stepped up a level he's eventually become a starter, and if he makes this move I'll personally be expecting the same

  7. Let's be extremely realistic, he is not going to have consistent minutes at all he will mostly be in the bench he should go to Tottenham where he can get solid minutes and develop, and lets not forget they are in a title race rn "experimenting" would not be good for them

  8. Nope, he needs to start. He's not nearly as good as we want him to be, riding pine will only keep the myth alive. Either he is world class or he is not. Sitting at Arsenal doesn't clear that up

  9. What a joke that you said McKennie can start at Juventus no matter what he does and it’s not as challenging as the Premier League! You need to watch some more soccer. Juventus is a bigger club than Arsenal. Arsenal are just playing well this year because of Gabriel Jesus’ play before he got injured.

  10. If Arsenal think Xhaka and Partey are good, they should just wait until Wes pulls up. They’re playing well this season, but he’s clear of both overall IMO

  11. I think I’d rather Wes go to Spurs cause I think he’s a perfect midfielder for Conte, Conte will get those pounds off quickly. The only question about Spurs is will Conte sign a new contract, I think he will. Arsenal is a good option though.
