  1. Have you seen the Rewatch from TDK of the Man U game? Havertz does some really nice moves. You can see why the coaches love him. He is such an intelligent and adaptable player. Rice however is playing as if Arsenal are WHU! I wonder if, as fans, we have this back to front. Havertz is a very cool composed character who has already experienced huge pressure and big expectations and survived. Rice however has only ever played for one club, is desperate to succeed and is going to have to learn and unlearn a lot.

  2. Because its a crazy signing. Its not normal to pay 65m pounds for a player who has flopped after 3 years of chances…and to make things worse you are taking this flop of a rivals hands and strengthening their financial kitty

  3. A couple on here have mentioned Arteta going for Odegaard over Maddison a couple seasons ago, and it's funny because he's chosen Havertz over Maddison again this summer. I think Arteta has some credit in the bank with his past decisions, so here's hoping Havertz is another success story.

  4. Havertz was a world class player as recently as 2 years ago. Plenty of people looked awful in that dysfunctional chelsea set up where he was consistently played out of position.

He's going to be just fine.

  5. Arteta is crazy to make this haverts signing the guy is useless and he doesn't fit our system and think we will pay the price and have a horrible season

  6. I hope Mikel does the former suggestion rather than the latter. Letting the team gradually get used to Havertz as the Xhaka replacement is what I think will work

  7. I don’t trust Veiera, Harvertz, Nelson, Eddie in this team. All of them share the same Ozil-lesk apperance of physical disinterest in the game despite being technically OK. I bet that this group will be found out this season and pushed out of the club eventually.

  8. All i hear from our fan base are excuses and false comparison to prove Havertz is a baller. So from going to being RVP & Berghkamp to examples of KDB & Salah now they are using Odegaard example. The delusional and blind following is incredible at this club.

  9. My only hope is that Havertz doesn’t become another Willian Paradox “A Chelsea player that a manager invests so much in; where both the manager and club get little back in return(performance-wise)”. I hope he comes good but I’ve prepared myself to expect nothing.

Sadly the Havertz of old(Bayer Leverkusen) is nowhere to be found, hopefully Arteta can help him rediscover that form.

  10. Here are my thoughts… Partey and Rice can play together and I think they should both start. Get rid of Viera and the rest of our dead weight. BY ALL MEANS KEEP PARTEY. Rice is an upgrade to Xhaka, who I thought was great. Haverts needs time and he'll get the skill level, hopefully, playing alongside this squad.

  11. When you pay 65million pounds for a guy that was not consistent for his team and most of the fanbase didn't understand and/or like, you will not get time. If Arteta and Edu didn't see that then I will be worried.

  12. I really rate him. It really all depends how he is used. I think he hasn’t been utilized properly at Chelsea and it’s hard to judge a player who spent time a club that was in complete Turmoil from the top down. At a stable structure like at Arsenal I think he can do very well. He is a baller and the fans need to back him.

  13. I don’t think many people have a problem is havertz but the question is does he justify his price tag. Had we bought him for 30-35 mil wlmany fans could have digested that. But for 65 mil he HAS to work out rather than being 35 mil people might think if it works out good for us, if it doesn’t not that much of a loss.

  14. I think the only option to start the season is a 4-2-3-1, rice and partey sitting with odegaard infront. There’s way too much expectation for us to be ‘hoping’ havertz works

  15. Big pressure for havertz because 3or 4 other candidates for that position rice trossard zinchenko and esr hope he's not William mark 2

  16. This was always the risk with Havertz. As much as some want to totally believe in Mikel/the process, Havertz has been shown that he struggles in the Prem and that his transition from the Bundesliga has not gone well with Chelsea. He scares me into thinking that he's Podolski (a Second Striker) although Podolski was an extremely lazy sod with only a left foot. It's the weird in between position that doesn't really have a place in modern football that worries me more.

  17. The thing about the Havertz signing for me is that I'm not sure it was a necessity. With a reduced defensive responsibility for the left 8 role, I would have given ESR or Trossard more minutes there.

  18. Havertz still feels like a weird signing, I'm hopeful but is this guy a "mentality monster" to steal a Kloppism, I'm not so sure, there could be a player in there but I think we've put a lot of faith in a player that hasn't really done anything apart from two decent seasons in Germany

  19. It's very unfair that he had 1 quiet game and everyone is on him already. The guy hasn't done anything wrong. At the same time he's a better player than most of the guys we have. Give him a chance. And give him time!!

  20. Give Kai time. If he doesnt hit the ground running, I feel like Trossad is the most obvious option to drop in there. His two footedness, ball rentention, link up ability, ball striking and tenacity mean he's got a lot to offer as a left 8 roaming around the edge of the area

  21. I don't think we need him to fly immediately, I'm happy for him to bed in and find his feet… ESR will be in better shape to start the season. People are MASSIVELY underestimating him

  22. I don’t think what we’re seeing so far in preseason is what we’ll see at the start of the season, Kai isn’t that box to box type player that xhaka was last year, if we’re using him week in week out I think we may see a different system altogether

  23. I just think as supporters we need to actually back all our players whether we agree with them being signed or not.
We can’t let ourselves be ruled by the toxic part of the fan base like during the later wenger years.

  24. Not gonna happen he needs time you can’t expect any player to do that especially if their in a poor run of form from their previous team personally I think we slightly overpaid 50 mil tops but who isn’t overpriced nowadays
