The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-7 in Los Angeles on July 4, 2023. Nick Gonzales got the Buccos started early in the first inning by hitting a 2-run double. In the fourth inning, Jack Suwinski hit a solo home run, Austin Hedges hit a sac fly, and Bryan Reynolds hit an RBI single to take the lead. In the sixth inning, Henry Davis tied the game up with an RBI single. Jared Triolo brought the Pirates back in the game with an RBI single in the ninth inning to tie the game. Josh Palacios then secured the win by hitting a 2-run double giving the Bucs the 9-7 victory. David Bednar closed out the night with 1.2 innings pitched, and 2 strikeouts for the win.

Love how Bednar tried to punch Hedges as if to say “I can’t believe you made me pitch two above the zone and got away with framing them as strikes”
Why dedicate 4 minutes of a 7 minute video on the FIRST inning?
Games like this when the lead trades back and forth and the win is in doubt until the very last out are the best.
That W was like lightning in a jar…boom …boom all of a sudden we're up two! Then in the bottom of the inning Bednar scared the crap outta me…then slammed the door…..what a happy 4th! The Pirates supplied the fireworks for me! Love em! Within the next 4yrs we will win the World Series….MARK MY WORDS! Go Bucs!
