Arsenal look to have secured another major summer transfer, with Dutch defender Jurrien Timber arriving from Ajax. However, the Gunners have moved for Timber when a host of Europe’s top clubs have been hesitant to, so what exactly has Mikel Arteta seen that others haven’t?

  1. I think the negative part is really a positive when at the back foot why risk when there is a way better easier option as while in attack you have to make those passes because even though you lose it you are still in their half so i dont really see how that is bad

  2. Thought about this having two fullbacks playing who are both comfortable inverting. Issue is Tierney didn't do that well at all last season when it was asked of him, we very much missed zinchenko's control in midfield when we was injured. Likewise, when timber would invert issue would be zinchenko isn't comfortable in a back three at all

  3. I can imagine a backline of Kiwior-Saliba-White-Timber where all 4 players are capable of stepping into midfield for extended periods of time while still having a back 3 of CBs. Opposition teams would be absolutely clueless on how to stop our build up. Only issue is Gabriel doesn't deserve to be dropped and Kiwior probably isn't ready just yet.

  4. I think Arsenal are preparing for the 2 options that City might have next season. It’s easy to forget about Cancelo. If he ends up staying back at City, they have 2 options as well, in the playing XI they can invert. Cancelo and Stones. It’s good forward thinking from Arsenal. But yeah, it’s gearing up to be another exciting season nonetheless ❤

  5. Arsenal. Defence for next season
    Rb tomi/white /timber
    Lb. Zinny/kiwior/tomi
    Rcb saliba/white/tomi
    Lcb gabreile/kiwior/white

Its pretty clear arteta wants playera who xan olay multiple role in defence. I dont see tierney fitting in. Newcastle is best team for him

  6. I see what you're saying: Rice was worth blowing big money on as a core DM and then throw in Timber to go alongside or reverse with Zinchenko for flexibility and add in Havertz with Odegaard, it does make a good argument for signings, profiles, systems and in-game flexibility and boosting stats all converging together.

One question I have is, are Arsenal still a bit physically small/slight eg set-pieces as a weakness?

  7. Yeah ….! Top class… ..you are really …..yeah …eh……mmm…like..basicallly…and ….mm…yeah change…Arsenal…..natural…..And ….afford….Mmmm.
