Alistair Davies golf Uk Top 50 Golf Coach shares with you the best way to release the golf club.
Many golfers release the club incorrectly by scopping or flipping their wrists.
In this video I will detail how to release the club correctly to square the face at impact.
This will allow you to hit staright shots.

  1. Excellent demonstration Alistair on how to properly release the club! Like you, I wish I would have found this move out years ago. I have been trying to incorporate this consistently into my swing, but I am not always successful in doing so. In the future, I will have to take more time to think things out rather than rushing into the shot. Good job as always Alistair. Keep up the good work!

  2. great drill alistair. any chance of sending me a link for your best drill on trying to get onto your leftside through impact, having trouble getting off my right side, hanging back too much. thanks

  3. that's the way i've been doing for the last several years after learning it from you and others on youtube and it works a lot better than the handsy flip type action.

  4. You lost me at the scooping critique at the beginning. If you shift pressure correctly the hands will be in front of the ball at impact which both compress the ball and deloft the club. No scooping needs to be done even if you roll the wrist like you did at the start of the video

  5. Hi Alistair, I coach this regularly and get players to feel that the transverse roll comes from the GH joint and not so much lead by the arm! Your thoughts would be appreciated , thanks

  6. Bro the ball is long gone at P8. There is nothing a golfer should need to do with his "release" if his grip and swing are proper from the start, into transition, etc. If anything a golfer should be working on extension of the pelvis through the hitting zone or something more suitable, but again there isn't much to worry about with body/trunk/arms/hands if what went on before was proper.

  7. Well, obviously this is a very tricky one; and, there are many schools of thought on this. I actually didn't understand a single word of what you were saying; but, I do feel sure that we shouldn't try do anything with the left arm, other than allow it to swing thru. And, the simple fact is that we should press our left hand against the left side of the shaft in the hitting area. this is built into the downswing by pushing back with the joint of the left wrist in the start of the downswing. this ensures that the left hand will be pressing against the left side of the shaft when the left hand moves into a position where it is to the left side of the shaft, in the downswing. obviously, we have to push back with the joint of the left wrist towards the top of the backswing, to do this. but, when the heel pad fully extends in the first part of the backswing the digiti minimi fully activates the flexor retinaculum; and, this enables the wrist joint to push back when the heel pad has fully extended. the concept of right hand release is a tricky one, also. the right hand should release thru; but, we should not consciously try to release the hand thru. there is a simple drill that we can do that explains to us just how the right hand works.

  8. This makes a lot of sense. Maybe being right-handed results in letting the right arm be too dominant. I'll try to focus on the left arm more. Maybe a good swing thought could be: Lead with the Lead Arm. Afterall, it ís the LEAD arm 😃

  9. Good point about release NOT being just letting go (i.e. allowing a "sling" of the club via loose floppy wrists) Many teachers online advocate loose floppy wrists but when they actually swing they don't do what they say. When I try loose wrists (no matter how I perform my pivot) I get totally inconsistent bottoms and usually no shaft lean. It simply is too hard to time impact.
