I'm sorry, but I am a lifelong Celtic fan and I have to disagree with your point that Celtic are a global brand. They are not. Choose any world location and if you find a guy wearing a Celtic top he will be 99% a Scot or Irishman who is living there or on holiday. Do the same for, say Man Utd, and the wearer will be local and who has never ever been to Manchester. That is what a global brand is. Celtic are a million miles away from that.
Great analysis as usual from Enda and James. The cruel irony of the top end pace being hard to recruit is that Doak seems like that level but walked out the door at 16.
Is that guy talking about Foster?
Rieder would be a great signing remember football is about enjoying the game he would be an outstanding player in Scotland his all out game playing is what we need for Europe.
no chance
There is no guarantee that Reider would take what would be a sideways step with regard to the opposition every week. Swiss players usually head to Germanyโฆ.and there is plenty of time left. Doubt if he would be rushed into a decision he might regret later. In all that chatter there was no talk of the possibility that a B team player might step up. Just signings, signings, signings. The B team must think theyโre a waste of time tbh.
How to end a call by enda coll , just hang up on the gobshite , (its not as if you have never heard that one anyway )
if Celtic are going to break the Scottish transfer fee for a player from the Swiss League and the bold Brendan authorises it Then I trust to a certain degree that he has been watched either by Brendan or Celtic for at least two years , Well I fuckin hope so anyway , Hail Hail
livakovic the croatia no1 keeper is availiable for about 6 million. hes top class and ideal for celtic.Hart is simply not champs league level anymore
Alan Morrison is disgraceful demanding holidays he should be removed ๐๐๐
Great show Bhoysโ๏ธHH
Great analysis we have to remember the reality
Ange used most of his budget last year on CCV and Jota, so really after the Jota money and what Rodgers would've had already then Rieder is defo doable. Kyogo isolates himself with movement alone, it's upto players to supply him.
nowhere near worth 16mill
they say he's off to Dortmund
Great as always, chaps.
I'd be stunned if Rieder came to us.
Canny see it.
If we get Reider, I expect O'Riley to be in the same boat as Turnbull was last season.
It's probably the right time to move O'Riley on. After a season on the bench he won't be worth as much.
Celtic pay far higher wages than Red Star.
Delusions of grandeur
Ange said the CL was a 5 to 7 window project. Is this Ange's 5th or Rodger's 1st? Rodgers starting from much stronger position, but competition will be stronger.
Don't have any issue with spending 15 million for a top-quality player.
If Rieder is the one, then so be it.
There's been a lot of talk about backing Brendan Rodgers so he can take us to the next level in Europe.
Talk is cheap.
Time to stop talking and start making these "statement signings" that will make the difference in the Champions League! HH ๐
No, no we are not
Top quality stuff as usual – easily the most insightful celtic podcast going
On the Kyogo under Rodgers question. Dominic the Leicester lad explained how Rodgers recalibrated Vardy to be a between the posts striker. Many similarities between them in terms of pace and pressure skills.
Nicholson already confirmed in the Rodgers presser that nothing has changed on transfers, so we arent suddenly going to start buying good players, will be cheap punts from cheap markets.
I hope not, we could sign 2 or 3 quality players from our new markets for that amount of money.
Mate, the keeper who plays for Barca's B side. We should snap him up. He's not renewing his contract and will be a free agent. Look him up, the guy is athletic & confident AF. Great shotstopper and fearless.
He absolutely thrives on the attacker bearing down on him.
Could only see this happening if Hatate was sold for a Jota-like amount. Only way it makes sense really.
Thanks Enda & James. Hope Alan is enjoying his holiday. Excellent pod. Really interesting analysis. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Cannot wait for the season to start. HH guys ๐๐
Answer ,NO German football is his preffered option and munchoen gladbach have already had a bid rejected so move on from him celtic fans
Great channel, with no egos, or self-promotion, no asking for money, and total focus on the important stuff about all things Celtic.
Thanks ๐
great chat,
re jota not being an outlier talent,
depends on when you looked. first year with ange very slightly above global average metrics, end of second season significantly above global average both offensively and defensively, according to sofas data . didn't expect that, quite a shock when you see the transformation in their ranking data ,
although different positions, looking at sofas data you could argue jota is a higher value proposition than frinpong. almost choked on my tea when i saw the latest metrics re jota on sofa, i was expecting to agree with jj, but alas no.
did celtic let jota go too cheap
re fabian reider,
he profiles better than celtics current mids except turnbull, and just like jota slightly above the global mean in terms of metrics at the start of his potential celtic career. his heat map is very even , but lacks depth, not sure if thats good or bad news.
to get anywhere in a CL teams need atleast two well above global mean mids , and celtics only CL level mid at the moment is turnbull going by the data. rieder and for that matter hatate look like they can get there, but its still a big question
ange was predictable, and by rights the opposite of predictable is un predictable, but its one of those irregular terms, so lets hope celtic dont descend into confusion with rogers tactical messaging.
rogers last season at leicester doesn't fill me with confidence re this , leicester winning possession battles but losing xg, until rogers realised he had a problem, and tried to fix it. confusion until the day he got sacked.
if i were to extrapolate from what i see in leicesters data, a rogers celtic could easily go backwards by alteast 10% in final third possessions, against the rest of the league that has had 2 years experience at slowing down angeball. more draws and dropped points and the league line ball.
rogers looks like a man searching for answers. hope he finds them at celtic
These guys are brilliant, puts how much money Celtic actually have into perspective..quality journalism hh another treble coming our way๐
Great job guys greetings from Cambuslang Glasgow!
