Newcastle continues to seek to strengthen its squad for next season.

This Tuesday, the 4th of July, the English newspaper “The Sun” revealed that the Newcastle board has been monitoring the situation involving the Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos, who currently defends Benfica.

In this way, the club can be one more to enter the dispute for the 22-year-old athlete.

Gonçalo Ramos consolidated himself in Benfica’s main team in the last two seasons and also reached the Portuguese national team, where he played in the World Cup in Qatar.

Last season, the striker scored 27 goals and provided five assists for Benfica in 47 matches played.

Because of this, the player became the target of big clubs.

Having all the financial support from the investment group from Saudi Arabia, Newcastle has already managed to get important names for its squad and the most recent one was the Italian Sandro Tonali, who was at Milan.

Now the objective is to reinforce the team’s offensive system, which today has the Swedish Isak as its main reference.

To hire Gonçalo Ramos, however, the English know that they will need to make a high investment in the athlete.

The Portuguese press reports that Benfica plans to receive approximately 80 million euros to release the striker with whom he has a contract until 2025.
Newcastle, however, do not want to invest more than 60 million euros.

Gonçalo Ramos started his career in Benfica’s youth team and reached the professional team in the 2020/21 season.

However, the player only started to have chances in the starting lineup after the departure of Uruguayan Darwin Núñez, who was traded to Liverpool.

Since establishing himself in the starting lineup, Gonçalo Ramos has played 93 games, scored 35 goals and provided seven assists.
