Maybe I don't see it but Richie Laryea is not good. He works really hard but his technical abiity is so poor. I don't understand how he played in front of Tajon Buchanan in the Nations League Final.

It's not the set piece that was an issue – there was just a lapse. The attacking player would have been offside had the own goal not happened. A big mistake and nerves likely played a part. The real problem leading up to the goal was the lazy challenge which puts Vitoria up for a suspension should he get another yellow card. More attention needs to be taken to get the ball up the pitch so that our guys are not defending and holding on during the last minutes of the game. Something to learn from and on to the next match…
And Hoilett is not afraid to shoot the ball when he has a chance. Many on the team can learn from watching him play – both for Canada and in the Championship. He is a solid, smart football player.
Look at Argentina’s first match of the WC and then the final result… so I’m disappointed but hold out hope for a turnaround.

We need to stop giving pray to a weak defense. To win at a world cup, it will not be with those guys. We need to find better players. If Victoria and Kennedy are struggling with these type of teams. Then we must find players with more speed and heart.

Half the canadian team hadn't played with each other before. The guadloupe team is coming off of qualifying for this tournament that they actually care about. So I think clear why Canada didn't win. Btw I like a lot of what I saw from some players on Canada especially Ali ahmed. Borjan's fault on 1st goal, vitoria's fault on the 2nd.
No, of course Herdman should not be fired, even if Canada gets knocked out of the 1st round, as Canada is experimenting with a bunch of young players, who never played together before. Herdman will be the coach in 2026 no matter what.
Jr. Hoilette was easily Canada's best & most effective player in both halfs in that match. Hoilette is also our best Corner kicker, in all of Canada's A & B squads, especially from the right side.. Eustaquio is a close 2nd for corner kicks.
Ahmed was very impressive & the 2nd best player last night. He definitely needs to bulk up a lot; but he showed a lot of promise & he was very brave dribbling the ball.
Cavallini was 3rd & that was a brilliant goal that he scored. It was a smart play, as he set-up the perfect give & go with Hoilette, who made the perfect final pass; but Cavallini's nose for the net & desire scoring that goal, was really great! Cavallini will be 33 in 2026, which isn't too old. He is a good secondary forward for the Canadian team, especially when the team needs energy, or toughness in the typical Concacaf type road games. Would I prefer a much faster, better skilled player to back-up our other elite forwards? Of course, but until someone steps up & shows that they can score goals like Cavallini, he is the guy.
Bombito was also exciting to watch; but he looked very raw defensively.
Brym was just okay; but also showed some promise.
Liam Miller was very fast at the beginning, but showed no finish.
Osorio was disappointing, as he was unusually invisible. He looked out of form.
As everyone said, Vitoria was awful for some reason.
JD, of all the players on this squad, you have totally ignored one player only & that is Nelson. I personally think that he is talented, as he is fast, skilled & thinks the game well. His biggest drawback is his size; but that has been true for a lot of very good soccer players. He has played very well in Europe & got a lot of compliments from his coach over there. He has done everything that Herdman asks from his young players. There is a reason why Herdman chose him as a member of this squad. I would love to see him get an opportunity to prove his value.
Anyway, we need to be patient with this group. We all want to see the younger talent; but, as fans, we can't seem to also put up with their predictible mistakes… We can't have it both ways! We also can't just get rid of all the veterans, who have carried the heavy load up until now, to help get Canada further than we all could have dreamed of, just a few years ago.
The coaches have the right strategy, of balancing new exciting kids, with older secondary veterans, as we head towards 2026. It won't happen overnight. I would much rather be successful in 2026 than win a Gold Cup versus other B teams in 2023!

Simple fine Herdman! It should have happened right after WC. Canada soccer won't become world class and go to next level without firing Herdman., a shameless garbage coach. He is the only reason, Canada sucks in WC, in nation league and golden cup.
My biggest takeaway is you have use the right players at right positions. Back line including goalkeeper have to be replaced with other more fit players.

USA fan here n watched this game. Better in 2nd half when pushing forward instead of sitting back. 1st half gaudalope ran all over u all but i will say Ahmed was impressive!! I wouldnt take too much into it cause the top teams in this tournament play players coaches wanna see n who could make it to 1st team. Honestly, dont know why they have this tournament anymore!! It used to be a big deal. Not anymore. You all should be happy with Herdman!! U could have Berhaltor…joke..only so much he can do when he has no funds to do more!! Look where he got u in wc qualifying?? 1st! Where it really counts n even though u all didnt make it out of group stage u all should have won that 1st game against Belgium. Very impressed what i saw!! Lots of potential!
Easy. Canada fielded a weak team. And they lacked the drive and killer instinct to hammer a team that should have lost to them badly.
Guadeloupe has good players. They are easily better than Cuba and Guatemala.
They have the Gold Cup too often
Borian should not be playing it does not matter whats happening, his time has come and his world cup performance was despicable. Not impressed with herdman since the choices he made in the world cup to now. I believe it's time for a change
