People need to stop bending backwards and stop apologizing and appeasing the mob. If you got offended because a Ukrainian player hugged a Russian player, you're the one with issues and you're the one who needs to take a closer look at yourself instead of whining and crying about it on the internet.
This is what the player should have said instead of apologizing that some snowflakes got offended by his good and sportsmanlike act.
